2010 Walking Libertys. Next month I intend to by 2. I don't know if ones more valuable then the other or should I buy one of each!
for some reason some collectors like those first strike designations, but for how long that will be a premium I do not know, maybe a pcgs or ngc member can give you some idea of the number of silver eagles in 70 condition, I would guess there would be a lot of them. I like them for bullion so I try to keep any purchases as close to spot as possible.
Cirelaw, you're gonna be payin' way too much whether you buy a PCGS or an NGC. These are modern bullion items. They strike out in a high grade to begin with. Forget the holder. If you want to invest in these coins then go buy a "green monster" box or a couple of rolls of these, but don't buy them in '70 grade and think that they are going to appreciate significantly investment wise. MHO....
I'm here to shoot the messenger... again, there's no difference except you shouldn't buy those for the label designations. They're just bullion. Just buy the raw bullion coins and you'll have invested your money properly and have many more ounces. Also you should learn the name of those coins, they are American Silver Eagles, sometimes abbreviated as ASE, which employ the same design as the Walking Liberty Half Dollar by Adolph A. Weinman.
Boy, Did I get the message. I'm still deciding how to fund my disability retirement since my stroke and coma in Costa Rico 5 years ago. I want to put $2K/month somewhere as I get for ten more years. I would like to stick to the bullion as I'm told ts more easily liquidated. You have already help more than You know!! PS You made me smile!!
The first strike wont depreciate in value either, if you are going to go the MS 70 route id go for the PCGS. If your looking for bullion do what they said above. But if your working with 2k a month then id go with gold. just mho
That what I thought. Thank to you both! I was all set to pay $300 over the counter price. A free will for You both!!
These strike designations ain't worth a hoot. Not when it comes to modern bullion items. Don't get me wrong folks. I love and collect silver American Eagles, but I do so from a collector stand point and not an investor one....
Precisely, all the comments about which plastic is worth more is hoo-hah... buy the coin not the holder, these coins are bullion and marketed to be something more than they are with special labels... buy the bullion raw, put them in your own holders and you'll end up with more ounces of precious metals than useless plastic.
Exactamundo, and, you can get (probably) three ASe's for the price of a '70 alone. Don't buy into the hype.....
I wish I could hire You both, I check out the numbers SWEET, An OZ gold and the rest in silver. Need a Will or Codicil?? ps Theres close to 20 exceptions to the heresay rule, 'excited utterance' etc. I'll stick to coins.
$300! You can get 15 ASE for that. I have some advice. If you want a slabbed coin for around $300 which will be an investment and be similar to the ASE, try looking for a 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar. They are about $360 in MS60 condition. In G-4 condition, they are $50, suggesting that the $360 might be a bargain at this time.
