Post it here (in the linked thread), and maybe you’ll win something older than that, if you're eligible. (Your oldest coin has to be later than 242 BC to be eligible to win the contest, but regardless, we'd like to see it even if you have something too old to qualify for the contest.)
A momento From my trip to Spain this spring with my son. From about 200 bc according to info provided by others. (That's a hand plow on the top of reverse.) Ancient Hispania (Spain) ca. 100-200 BC OBULCO Obv.- Female head facing right; OBULOO (OBULCO) in front of female Rev.- Hand Plough above and Grain Stalk (Wheat?) Growing left "ILTIREUR"/"KABESURITU" between them in two lines
Anyone whose oldest coin is later than 242 BC is eligible to win something even older than their oldest coin. Anyone whose oldest coin is earlier than 242 BC is welcome to post it in the contest thread but is not eligible in the contest since I won’t be able to give them something older than they already have.
This is the oldest but I don't think it qualifies for the contest. I'll post my second-oldest to the contest link. For the life of me, I cannot figure out the correct orientation of Zeus's head. Any suggestions would be welcome.
I think if you rotate that obverse 45 degrees, you'll have his face looking right. I see the eye at the top and an ear at the bottom of the present rotation.
Thanks, I'll give it a try tomorrow. Reminds of one of those optical illusion tests. "Can you see the unicorn in this mix of colored dots? No?"
