The strength of the Dollar is decimating all the metals. As the FED continues to increase interest rates expect more of the same. I nibble in however about once a week. The Bears are in total control now, how long that lasts is a guess but everything is.
On Saturday, I recieved a call from a person that had previously sold me her coin collection. She was happy with my offer and she referred me to a retired individual that wanted to "unload" his collection before things got worse. If you know what an old green "military foot locker" looks like, imagine what one looks like FULL of coins. I spent 5 hours on Saturday and 2+ hours on Sunday going through and listing the coins, 63 Proof sets (all silver) 100 ASE dated from 86 to date.(including a 95 W) all in their original boxes. A mixture of proof sets from 1963 to date, a complete set of Mint Sets from 1958 - 2000, Several Olympic coins sets 83-84 3 piece w/$10 gold coins. Misc Uncirculated rolls of dimes nickels quarters and his favorites "64JFK's. I could go on but all in all I acquired everything (except the foot locker with his name on it) After much discussion I ended up paying him 13.35 x face and spot less 7% for his gold coins. $17,388. Now I have to find a way to sell off the excess proof sets. Needless to say I am holding the silver until the mkt regulates itself. Semper Fi Phil
even if the premiums do go down the prices will be high they aren't going to sell at a loss.Prices would need to go as low as $16 an ounce good old times for a long time which will cause panic and most dealers will be forced to sell at a huge loss. But i definitely don't see that happening anytime soon but hold strong and get ready eventually. You might get lucky by some local bargains as some people have been getting incredible deals by the kind and generous.
With gold down also... thought I would get a 1928 NGC MS62 Indian Quarter Eagle, but they didn't follow trend. my bid 475.00 was surpassed and its got 20 hours to go. blind note their bidding like its gold or sum tin else
$16-18 is my range I’d be happy with paying (without including premiums, which I avoid by buying from locals via Facebook marketplace) still nervous to throw in some money for now though.
How is that working out? Not great, I see. I was hoping for the prices to lower as well but we are in SERIOUS trouble.
Bought very little Evan, mostly junk U.S. just to around out a tube is all. I NEVER ever could buy the dips and sell the highest point like these guys. But every now and then a blind sow gets an acorn.
on the other end of the buying spectrum, really looking to sale my silver but will probably keep my collection of Korean Chin woos.
This is the truthyist thing I read in this thread...premiums have been all kinds of seller friendly for a couple years now.
