Sorry my friend. I was going back to an old joke from my daily finds thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/what-did-coinjockey73-find-today.375864/page-31#post-7572878 I used to joke about a guy on my block, Ralph, that made nickels. Sorry, I'm usually the only one in on my jokes, and this one really backfired. For the record, i have no idea who the QuarterMaster is, or who runs QuarterNotes. Sorry about all this.
I apologize if that felt accusatory. I remember your friend Ralph.....now. I should have remembered him sooner. Again, my apologies.
Never a need to apologize with me. I'm always trying to keep things in the light side. Enjoy your weekend!
As did I yesterday, Paddy. The very same envelope with the "Reddy Kilowatt" image. Today is my birthday, and I'm wondering if it is a coincidence that I have received the letter and Virginia quarter within a day. I remain intrigued by these counter-stamped quarters and would DEARLY love to know who she/he is. Steve
Zoid received his in the mailbox yesterday. Just retrieved it about an hour ago. Haven't opened the envelope yet. Will probably do so when I pay bills later this evening. Eternal thanks QuarterMaster! Z
Sounds like QuarterMaster is having a lot of fun with this. It's been enjoyable to follow along and see how the different "issues" and conversations develop. Keep up the good work QM.
I'm still trying to parse the latest letter about the inducer, etc. Not being of a practical bent (I let my little brother fix my car because he knew what he was doing) I'm a bit lost with that whole discussion. But I'm with you about wishing the QM continued fun as that fun is being shared by a lot of us on CT. Steve
I'm a bit late in opening my envelope, but am intrigued by this installments puzzle. Being an Electronics Engineer by trade (I graduated when tubes were still "a thing") I know well what an inductor is and what it is capable of. As a matter of fact, the examples of shrunken coins below were created using a self destructive inductor. But the inscription on the QuarterMaster coin? Hmmm, I'm drawing a blank . . . I know that it is a TM product of Staples, the office supply warehouse. I also know that no staples were used in the affixing of the quarter to the envelope that contained it. Only tape . . . . lots of tape . . . . . I need a magnifying glass to see the images in his letter a bit better. I am guessing there are clues in the photos. Hmmmm, Virginia . . . . coils . . . . staples . . . . what does it all mean . . . . ??? "No coins were scratched in the mailing of this quarter . . . . . " Z
I'm not sure that I would like to receive one of Quarter Masters pieces, the detective in me would go nuts trying to figure out WHO WHY etc. It is interesting to see the wide variety of his work individuals receive. Semper Fi Phil
I received another a few weeks ago, but we're still in the process of moving and our basement-digs in our son's house is overflowing with boxes. I'll post it when I find it again. Steve
Seems the QM has had some rocks in the road. Here’s hoping 2023 will be better for him and for all of us.
I echo your wishes, Lord M, for the QuarterMaster and his/her staff/family...all engaged in this delightful mystery. Steve
