2011 budget bill aiming to give Mint authority to change coin compositions

The 2011 budget bill has a section in it that basically takes away the authority to mint money from congress and gives it directly to the mint to dictate coin compositions and weights.

Very interesting. Time to start hoarding coinage.

 

Time to start!? You mean time to kick it in to high gear... most people on this site hoard some sort of coinage be it circulating ones or silver dollars.

 

Sounds like 2011 (copper, nickel) may be the next 1964 (silver). Should be very interesting. TC

 

Current value of the metal content of a Nickle is 5.47 cents.
Zinc cent is only .608 the copper penny is 2.23.

 

Who would have ever guessed we would be hoarding clad coins for their PM content? I say we give Freuctwanger's Composition a try.
