And thats why I am filling up the rest of my garage freezer with as much as I can find in the next moth - along with some beef. Because by summer/fall expect them to be costing much more with the grain issues and war. Food is not going to get cheaper or easier to get later this year.

I'd put another backup generator on the list, just for that reason.

Been thinking about getting a chest freezer, but really don't have room inside the house to put one.
Outside would be tough when the heat is 120 in the shade.

In the 22 years I have lived in my home - never experienced a power outage longer than 30-60 mins. My garage freezer will keep things frozen for 48 hours. So feel reasonable safe - but at some point a generator is on my list.

P.S. My garage freezer is rated to 110F - where I live that temperature will never happen inside my garage (or even outside) thankfully. But I can enjoy below freezing weather outside 3 months a year.

In the 26 years we've been here, we had one multi-day power outage (a few months after we arrived, it was kind of a big deal).

On the other hand, in those same 26 years, we'd never experienced 7% inflation, either. If things get globally disrupted enough that food is hard to get, fuel for power stations may also become a problem.

I want to thank you for your $2/# chicken breast post.

Although I only eat white meat, I never considered your choice until seeing your believed logical post.

    Yesterday I found a 3.73# package for $8.13.

The constant temperature slow cooked spiced/sliced breasts were a wonderful part of last evenings' meal.

    Fantastic!

Actually, CADDYSHACK was from 1980....inflation was 12%, mortgage rates were on their way to 18% (21% at some places)....CD rates were conisistently 12% and the Treasury long bond was on its way to completing a 35-year bear market in price (highs in yields) that would crest the next year in September at 15.2%. :D
