L.M., You scored a very attractive Eagle at a very fair price . Saint-Gaudens was a great admirer of classical Greek art & coinage, & many of his coins & medals show that influence. No doubt the eagle design on the reverse of your coin was inspired by the eagles seen on the Greek coins of Egypt :D. For comparison see the Greek tetradrachm I sold long ago at a Heritage auction.

Your Ptolemy VI is certainly a better MS comparison than my own much humbler example, which is also a mere didrachm.

My one and only $10. Felt I needed one for the short type set. It looks much nicer than my poor photo.

Y'know, in this particular market, it's possible that your daughter's used car has appreciated more than that coin in the interim!

That is a GLORIOUS $10 Indian. I hope one day to have one as nice -- I wasn't a fan of that design for a long time, but it's grown on me lately.

Going by the photos, I love the color and think that it appears to be under graded. I gave it an "8", but I would not be interested in buying it. I have the two major type coins plus a couple others, but I don't need another one unless it's a great bargain.

Nice luster. You can tell that even in those pix.

Lovely acquisition! I gave it an 8. It's my favorite "Indian" on US types, but not my favorite eagle. Looks a bit like a pigeon. But as another poster said, I wouldn't kick it out of bed.

I really like the $10 Gold Indian Coins displayed. I have been watching them from afar. The prices have significantly risen this past year. It's probably because of inflation and many other things. Where is the best place to get a good one without losing my shirt?

You don't have to lose any shirts; just refinance them when you do the arm and the leg. :)

The only place I've seen "bargain" $10 Indians is eBay, and that's a matter of being in the right place when the Buy-It-Now lightning strikes. I almost managed it one time. I did get one $10 Indian for a bit below melt, but it was harshly cleaned. Still a bargain to my mind, but nothing to brag about here.

I’ve always liked this design. Not necessarily my favorite, so I voted 9, but have one in my collection. 1916 NGC graded MS61. Thanks for sharing.

I removed the bezel with no apparent damage, but who cares.
