Are PMs riding due to uncertainty regarding Russia & Ukraine?

    What do you guys think?

I read financial news often because I invest in stocks and I’ve seen a few articles say PMs are going up due fears of Russia invading Ukraine and making stocks more risky.

Plus I’ve known for years that when people get scared they buy PMs not stocks. Stocks are for when the times are good.

Every form of investment is being affected from PMS, to stocks, allot of people
are just waiting for the first shot, its stupid to think that Russia isn't going to attack
you dont put on skis unless you going to hit the slopes and you dont move men and equipment and tanks, jets ETC unless your going to attack! gas here in Vegas is up 15 cents $3.79 a gallon, the entire thing is over Ukraine going NATO and why is
that important ? the Ukraine boarder is only 500 miles from Moscow, I think you
    can figure out the rest...LOL

    It’s not politics.

I’m not asking for thoughts or opinions on the conflict.

I’m merely asking if the conflict itself is affecting the precious metals market and causing the price to rise over the past few days.

Speculation?….There’s multiple investigations going on right now.

Just because you think your question isn’t political doesn’t mean the answers you’ll get won’t be political, I personally couldn’t give a good answer to your question with out crossing the political line.

Yes an investigation is still speculation.

An investigation doesn’t mean anything has happened. It doesn’t matter how many investigations are going on at once.

An investigation is simply gathering the facts. It’s not until someone is convicted at trial that it can be said they did something.

But the point is I wasn’t asking for people to comment on the situation or give their opinion on it.

It was solely about whether a specific event had an impact on PM prices.

If it is caused by this event there would be no possible way to tell someone what was causing a rise in PMs without it being called “political”.

Think about it. What if I asked the question the other way around and said:

“What caused the recent price rise in PMs?”

How would someone answer that without mentioning what’s going on?

    It’s impossible.

Oil is going to spike if that happens which ultimately would be good for Oil stocks and youd see money coming back into those.

That said there really hasnt been any major shocking jumps that we havent been seeing for the last year or so with the increase then drop rinse and repeat.

Dont worry about engaging broken brain political stuff. If you take the bait engaging in such political nonsense your thread which had no politics in it will get nuked so you need to just ignore that nonsense

Well, given their reaction to reports that some Russian troops are returning to their bases:

...looks like the answer was "yes".

I am not sure I am buying that completely, sounds like the old
rope a dope to me, nothing has been
settled for Russia so why would they
    do a complete 360 ?

Yeah, the reports I've seen say Russia is claiming that they're pulling back troops. Wonder if they're buying gold this morning?

We have satellites looking down on
them, so for them to make a claim
like that there only fooling themselves
    we know the real play.

I hold a decent amount of gold and I seldom look at the charts. I just did and spot is $1901.00 and I can’t say that I am surprised. I have been holding gold since the 1990’s and used to read the analysts reports and such…… In response to the question at hand, I would have to say that yes this immediate upswing is a response to the threat of conflict. But in reality, things have been so upside down for so long now that I believe any irrational move in the PM markets is the result of a host of events. I suspect that all PM’s will be making irrational moves until things “normalize” down the road.

The market does what it wants so anything that unusual will throw a wrench in to it, that’s just the way
    that it is.
