I mostly collect Roman Republic denarii, but I’ll occasionally purchase Greek coins that I find interesting. Today I bought an AR drachm of Pamphylia, Aspendos from Lodge Antiquities on Vcoins. I know Aspendos minted vast quantities of AR staters depicting hoplites or wrestlers. However, I don’t see the drachms coming up for sale too often.

Pamphylia, ASPENDOS AR drachm 420-360 B.C Obverse: Horseman (Mopsos, founder of Aspendos) galloping left hurling spear,. Reverse: Boar prancing left. Weight: 5.36 grams. Diameter: 18.34 mm. References: SNG COP. -. SNG Frankreich 25.
    Ex. Lodge Antiquities

My example seems to be an obverse die match to a coin that sold at CNG:

Post pictures of your coins from Pamphylia!

I assume the anchor counter mark meant that it circulated in the Seleukid Empire?

I don't know. This anchor countermark on these Side tetradrachms is extremely common, and probably struck at the Side mint. I am sure there is some study about it, but I don't know which one...

Pamphylia, Aspendos. Circa 465-430 BC. AR Stater (18mm, 10.85g, 4h). Obv: Nude hoplite advancing right, holding spear and shield. Rev: EΣ; Triskeles. Ref: SNG BN 6. Very Fine. Test cut on reverse. Ex Triskeles 25, Lot 101.

A coin with a Triskeles from a Triskeles auction!

That’s an attractive example despite the test cut. Sharply struck with the test cut not obscuring any of the devices
