Anyone came across or have one of these? I am finding I have a growing interest in alternate currencies, local currencies etc. Studying some of these alternate currencies is a little more digestable than trying to understand all of the intricacies of the US currency system or any national currency for that matter. I know they don't have monetary value besides bullion content, or so I understand, just find them interesting. Also, looks like the guy who started the Liberty Dollar is in trouble. From what I gather his designs were a little too close to home and the Fed felt he was trying to pass it off as US currency. Anyone following this? Last, anyone think these might end up having some collectible value, just for the oddity/novelty aspect? Just curious. Troy
Tmoney is a CT member who has a similar interest in the NORFED. When he sees this thread, he'll be sure to answer. I saw one at a bank....the teller took it as a dollar then bought it. It was an oz of silver, so she made out....(she showed it to me).
I too will be looking forward to learning about this as I have 3 of their coins and 2 of their certificates. Came in a lot that I bought when silver was relatively cheap and I haven't given them much thought. The coins (sorry Uncle Sam, I meant 'silver rounds') are certainly attractive.
There are a bunch of different designs and sizes that were produced of these NORFED rounds. Last time I checked the coins depicting Ron Paul were selling for big bucks on ebay. I have two NORFED silver rounds in my collection. Don't know what they'll be worth in the future but they are interesting conversation pieces.
Hi Troy, I bought a couple a year or so back at my local coin store. Liberty Coins in Lansing, MI. I don't know if they still have them. They come in $20 and $10 being 1 oz. and 1/2 oz., resp. Ask around, they're available. rono
hmmm, looks like T$ is messin wit his high school lady freinds and is too good for us coin people I'll see if I still have the links he gave me..I do somewhere, give me a bit to find them. stainless
Don't neglect Civil War Tokens and Hard Times tokens. Also, there are some pretty neat Canadian tokens issued before they had government issued money.
http://www.norfed.org/ http://www.norfed.org/ld/about/legal.htm I have others, but I can't find them, and they aren't Norfeds anyways, but a different company. they are very similar though: stainless
Troy, On the NORFED Currency you might want to take a look at treasuredstocks.com under American Liberty Dollars. Alot of different items to view. Enjoy, Jeff
