    Does anyone know...?
2010 American Eagle production has been suspended by the U.S. Mint for some time.
2010 American Eagles are not available from the U.S. Mint.
But several are for sale on eBay and at my local coin shop.
Does anyone know where the sellers / shops are getting their supply from?

Well, depends on what your asking. There are American eagles in every metal -plat, silver and gold. Now the mint was not going to mint 2009 Gold Grac pieces but they ended up doing it in December. Now I know in 2010 they have minted the American Eagle 1 ounce coin in every metal.

The 2010 ASEs you're seeing are the bullion, not the UNC or proofs.

The US Mint. The have to by law generate enough for the public demand. Its the Proofs and UNC you may not see for a while

Sorry I was not more specific.
I was speaking of the Silver American Eagles.
The Mint does not list any available: uncirculated, proof, or otherwise.
So were do the sellers get them (circulating / bullion) you see on eBay and in coin shops?
    Thank you.

They have suspended production but they had already minted and sold tons of them. There are selected dealers who buy the monster boxes of these from the US mint and that's what you have at your local store.

the mint does not sell the regular bullion american silver eagles directly. you have to get them through a 3rd party distributor such as APMEX or other large coin supplier. i picked up 5 from APMEX the other day for $18.42 a piece :D

The U.S Mint only sells bullion coins to dealers. The public (you and me) buys from dealers or individuals who have bought from dealers.

There are three versions of the ASE the the mint has produced...
    * Bullion for investors - not sold directly to the public
    * Proof and Uncirculated(Unc) - sold directly to the public

I hope the links below explains it all...

    1) Bullion
    2) Proof
    3) Uncirculated
    and too add...
in 2009 the Mint did not produce the proof and uncirculated versions.
This has continued into 2010 and there is no word if the collectible versions will be sold. If they are, unfortunately I will have a whole in my set.

I can't wait to see the price of the low low mintage 2009 proof/unc ASE!
