No. It is a reproduction with almost no gold in it.

Do you really have to ask?

No, its not worth buying but it depends on your definition of worth. If you like helping ebay scammers ...buy a couple. If you believe in right and wrong and all thats good in life...no ..it's definately not worth it.

It's good to ask. The best thing to do is keep your money in your pocket and study coins until you feel confident enough to buy without asking. You should never buy anything that you don't completely understand, and only buy from sources that you KNOW are reputable.

the description says it all "recreated by National Collector’s Mint" and don't forget "Gold Clad" these are keys that scream "i'm not real!"

Ok it is a repro and it is listed under that category. But, I take issue with this auction for one HUGE reason; when I saw the commercial for this coin a couple weeks ago I said to myself " Is'nt that creative that the word COPY is strategically placed in the Indians ponytail" which is probably so it does'nt affect the coins eye appeal. None the less, I can't see the word copy on this coin, can anybody else?

To answer your question honestly and straight forward, NO!

WTF? Agreed, copy should be easily identifiable. Maybe a law suit would fix that.

Due to the fact that is clearly states it is a tribute gold 'clad' coin.

    Clad in 31mg of gold.

Note it is 31mg (miligrams)of gold as opposed to 31g (grams) of gold.

Using my tremendous math skills, I can deduce that this coins has literally 1/1000 the amount of gold that a real buffalo $50 gold coin has, and should be priced accordingly.

In essence, they are trying to deceive the buyer into thinking they are getting a $1200 gold coin for $20 when in reality they are selling a $2 dollar coin for $20.

I blew up that picture up and still cant see it. I see something on the butt of Buffalo right by the tail but cant make it out.

Nope, no copy. Could it be that it doesn't have "$50 and .9999 fine gold" on it either? The ones on tv do have copy on them. Hmmm.

Wait! It is there. The bright photo hides it but if you blow it up you can see it in the place as was mentioned (the pony tail).

Phew. I'd hate to see someone run a scam. LOL

So THIS seller is someone who either themselves bought or bought from someone else one of those cheapo knock-offs off the TV offer! I always wonder who buys these things. There was a recent thread about these coins:

Have you seen theis ad on T.V?

There are links to these copy coins websites where you can also watch the commercials they run on TV. The Buffalo coin actually does have the word "copy" on it, it's worked into the Indian's hair braid on the obverse, but you can't see it in the eBay pics.

Nope I looked to, but then I am wearing glasses and I had it computer magnified to 200%...

YES, I can see the word "COPY" on the braid.

It IS there in the picture the seller posted.

I opened the image file in Photoshop and enlarged it on screen to view. It is a low res file, pixelated (blurry) and VERY difficult to see. It is easier to see if it is pointed out, I created the image showing where the word COPY is located.
