I've always been a straight up pre-1933 gold coin collector, with the occasional panda or moder bullion proof commemorative. Recently I purchased a 10 gram Pamp Suisse Gold bar with a picture of Lady Fortuna. I was surprised at how "cool" these bars are..great design, enclosed in a credit card like certification that I could hold in my wallet if desired. I am thinking about going for a one ouncer, or maybe even the 100 gram bar. Does anyone have/collect these..or even consider them collectable??

Not collectible at all. Just good for the value of gold. My daughter owns a couple of them.

People collect different things for different reasons. What's not collectible to one might be collectible to another. If you like them and can afford them ...cool.

They won't generate any numismatic premium but those 100gm bars are fun and I'd like to have a couple of those in my collection.

I just bought my first 1 ounce Pamp Suisse gold bar from Apmex. It should arrive anyday now. Really looking forward to getting it!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm not really expecting them to be worth much more than melt, but its more of an attempt to diversify my mostly numismatic gold portfolio. I was expecting to just put it away and forget about it, but was pleasantly surprised at how cool it is, and I find myself enjoying it. The fact that it's valued close to melt is attractive, since a lot of bullion like AGE's can have ridiculous premiums. If I'm going to pay a premium for gold, it's got to be pre-1933 US

That's neat that you have a one-ouncer on the way TY! Let me know what you think, since I'm considering one too.

Everything is collectible. And nobody can say with certainty what will or will not carry a premium in the future.

  8. There is a collector out there for just about everything. Do not know much about the gold issue but have seen the 1oz. Pamp Suisse silver bars become very collectable and carry a decent premium at times. TC

Pamp Suisse is a great way to accumulate gold. The premiums are low, and the PAMP mark is recognized all over the world...that's important when it comes time to sell. Additionally, PAMP is one of the world's largest gold refiners and a registered London "good delivery" firm.

Also, the bars are .999 gold, where as some high premium coins (like the gold eagle or the Krugerrand) are not. Both contain 1 ounce of gold, but the Krug also contains a small amount of alloy to make it more durable.

I love PAMP Suisse (gold) Fortuna- they are beautiful, recognized around the world, and considered "good delivery" by the LBMA. They also carry a lower premium than most gold coins. The assay card is also a nice feature. The PAMP silver bars are nice too - but the premiums on the silver bars make them price prohibitivr for many people.
