Makes no sense to me either, especially when the auction right below it is for the same bar, and the BIN price is $27.75. ★☆★ 2.5 Gram Pamp Suisse Silver Bar Ingot FREE SHIP ★☆★ - eBay (item 300384214804 end time Jan-10-10 23:20:50 PST) (Still really high for 2.5 grams of silver).
I hate to cast aspersions but I am very suspicious about some of these EBay auctions. I don't really know about this one but I have seen somebody selling 1 GRAIN (not gram) gold clippings from a genuine 1 gram Pampe Suisse 24K bar. I strongly suspect that they are trying to deceive the gullible or less aware buyers into thinking they are buying 1 gram. I dunno, maybe not but in the title it always says '1 GR', but in the fine print it explicitly says grain. 1 gram isn't much, one grain ain't jack. In any case the seller seems to be walking a very fine line and while not illegal perhaps, it's pretty dang close to it and nothing a decent person would be involved in.
Or, in more scientific terms, 1 gram = 15.43 grains :smile If they are tricking people with it, they're making out like bandits in small increments.
