The envelope from Lord M I won a few weeks back was in the mail today, and I had to share my happiness on my facebook profile, and my coin page on FB and want to do the same her with you guys. As a Norwegian US coin collector, some coins can be hard to find, and when you get one of them, it is so much fun and joy. I am sorry if my English is not perfect, but hope you understand my happiness. Here it is =) It's just not possible to be so lucky and have so much luck. Some time ago I won a competition in an American coin group (COIN TALK) and won 10 counter-stamped statehood quarters. It arrived in the mail today and after opening the envelope there were 2 envelopes inside. Hm, I thought, but on the outside on one of them it said the following: I saw you like modern coins, so here are some. "Lord M" I opened and inside I found around 10 US coins where they were vacuum packed with the designation of the coin inside. I was happy with all the coins, but one made my heart jump a little extra. I have a (almost) complete quarter collection from 1965 and even this year's coins. A (almost) complete series in almost 60 years, BUT the complete series is broken by 2 coins I am missing (missed) Quarets 1985S and 1987S (S stands for the San Francisco mint and is proof coins of the best quality). One coin was 1987S and I was so happy that I almost started crying. Such a joy for a coin that does not really have great value, but which I have been missing for so long. I've been looking for these two 80's quarters for so long, and now one of them just dropping straight into the mailbox. Joy, joy and joy again. Now I only need 1985S to get this part of the series complete. Hope it does not take 3 more years before I get bought or come over the 1985S. The value of both coins, each graded, is around 4 dollars so it is not the value for me that counts, but to get it complete. I love American coins, especially those with eagles on them. So if any of my followers here on facebook know where I can get quarter 1985 from San Francisco, give me a hint. I would really appreciate it to get this part of the collection complete. An extra big thank you to "Lord M"
@lordmarcovan is a great part of CT I won a Lord M giveaway around 2 years ago and I was very happy as well!
Ditto! I'll never forget the SLEW of coin goodies @lordMarvan sent me a few years ago. Oh, Man!! He really gives good coin gift! :-D There were soooo many coins and all sorts of coins from a Mardi Gras King coin to cool red wheats and ..oh my goodness! It has been a while. I'll take those coins out again soon and re-Enjoy them. Thanks again lord M!
I too am blessed with having received items from LordM. A very nice set of elongated coins with the Lords coat of arms.
This thread just made my day! @Leif Erik Johansen - as far as I can see, your English IS nearly flawless! Better than that used by many of my fellow Americans! What a fantastic stroke of luck that the 1987-S proof quarter filled an empty slot in your collection! I did not know that in advance, of course. It was pure random chance! I’m glad it worked out that way. Thank you for posting this. I love it when people post updates on their prizes, particularly after the packages travel overseas like yours did. Thanks also to the anonymous Quarter Master, who was the sponsor of the counterstamped quarters you won. The second envelope from me was merely an add-on to his prizes that you won. I had promised to add a few pieces of my own to those giveaways (there is another one of those still running as I type this). Normally that would have been just one or two extra pieces from me, but I did take the time to look at your posting history to see what you might like. I’m glad I did, now!
Those shrink-wrapped coins came from Littleton Coins. I do not buy from them personally- they are very overpriced- though they are an otherwise professional company who sells good quality coins. This spring I purchased a big bag of coins in Littleton plastic from a dealer friend of mine. I figured the lower value ones like these might make nice bonus items to sweeten up giveaways, exactly the way this happened. A coin does not have to be expensive to be enjoyable.
No, you do not need one anymore. And it will not take three years, either. Just give it time to get here to me, and then for me to reship it to Norway. That was too easy! The one you eventually receive in the mail may not be the exact one in the photo, but it should be similar enough. It will not be in the Littleton plastic.
WHAT??? Will you send a 1985S quarter to me so my quarter collection 1965 to 2021 will be complete???? What =) My calendar must be wrong, it is not christmas !!! Oh my god, I will be so happy. I have to do something back, I just have to. Thank you so much
Of course! Very easy to do. It is an inexpensive coin in this country. It only cost me $2.99, with free shipping. Practically nothing. I’m about to spend almost that much on a hamburger at McDonald’s for ladymarcovan’s lunch! (Now, if you had wanted a 1796 or 1913-S quarter, that would have been a very different story indeed!) What you did by posting this thread was what made me happy. And that is what this community is all about.
I think everyone reading this can just picture the size and radiance of your smile. @lordmarcovan you are one of this world's special people
I am just not sure what to say guys. You are too kind. I am without work and not used to this kindness. I am about to cry, cos I am so happy to then get the quarter cladd collection from 1965 to 2021 complete. WOW. What a day to remember
When it is complete show some images, we would like to see it. My Wife especially would like it, she is Norwegian, all her relatives live in and around Horten and I inherited her Father's collection of wonderful Norwegian coins. Glad you are so happy
We often fail to put our thanks into words and you, Leif, have done a fine job. Thanks for posting your windfall and recognizing Lord M (Rob) for the efforts he puts into making this collecting hobby fun for everyone.
Horten is just short way from me, I live in Hof (Vestfold community) if she knows about that small spot =) Here pics of my 1965-1998. Its loads of state quarters and willbe many pics, but it you want, I can also post them. I only collecy P, D and S and not the siver out of them. On the pic number 3 I guess it was you can see the 87S is down in the corner. It is in a locked plastic bag, but will move it to a Hartberger. Only one hole left and it will come. I am so happy now. An exstra christmas eve lol =)
@Leif Erik Johansen - tell me something- now that you have finished the clad quarters, do you want to expand back into the pre-1965 silver ones? Or are they beyond your budget? Would your collection look good in something like this? That is a nice affordable bookshelf album- I have used that brand before. And Wizard Coin Supply’s price is good, but their shipping cost (even to me here in the US) is high. I found a better deal on eBay here, since it offers free shipping to me. I’m sure if you wanted something like that, we could pitch in and make it happen. Edit- no, that just did happen, thanks to another of your American friends on CoinTalk. I ordered the one on eBay. If you do not want it, I can use it here. Also, do you have a copy of the Red Book of US coins? I have an extra 2019 spiral bound edition here I am not using. (Like this). I mention these things since I know they might be harder to find in Norway.
Someone who read this is buying that album for you. Someone else has some coins for you, to put in it, and start you off on the pre-1965 silver quarters. We know you were not asking for that, but everyone so far has gotten a smile from reading your message.
