This looks like the Large "7" variety due to... 1. Closeness of the "7" to the "0". 2. Width of the diagonal piece of the "7" near the the horizontal piece. 3. The shape of the drapery just above the "7".
Definitely Large. Look at the point of the 1 relative to the intersection of the hair and neck. The photos cut off right where this is located on the comps. But it is clear on the Subject. The "small" overdate has several points to recognize than the size of the 7. The 1 is close to the curl, the HWH is underneath the R and the SHWH is almost under the upright of the E. And the most obvious on a coin with at least this much detail is the Blunt 1 on the S-272 (small 7) compared to the Pointed 1 on the S-273 (large 7.) This last diagnostic often makes PMD at the bottom of the 7 on other varieties more difficult to detect than the large 7 overdate.
I always ignore the 7 and look at the distance from the 1 to the curl just left of it. On the small 7 the 1 is right up against the curl (about 1/2 its own width away) On the large 7 it is well away from the curl (almost twice its own width away) Compare those distances to the OP coin and it becomes obvious which one it is.
Perhaps I misunderstood something since I am certainly not an expert or even a specialist on this coin , or any other for that matter, but, for some reason, I was under the impression that the "large" was the more desirable of the two. I was merely hoping that my fellow CTer would get (what I believed) he was hoping for. This could be considered a learning experience : of why it might take so long to become a truly knowledgeable coin collector ?
