Received my 2021-W ASE Flying Eagle. I like the new design of the reverse. What are your thoughts?

Got one yesterday. I have another grandkid due in November and needed one. Got one for me to end my collection of ASE's.

I bought my new one from an ebay dealer in Indiana for $40, including postage. Of course it did not come in some fancy plastic case, but it is and will forever be my one and only sample of the 2021 Type 2 ASE...beautiful.

I'm guessing you got the uncirculated from a monster box rather than a proof?

What happened to the nice cases these coins use to come with? Now you just get a cardboard box. What’s next? A paper envelope.

They tried that back in 2001 with the Capitol Visitor Center Silver half and dollar. The only time that I can remember. This is how they came from the mint.

Yes, like it...mine should be here any day...got the "shipped" notice, but every time I look (glance, really) at the obverse, it appears that the "W" is there, below 'In God We Trust', but it's the designers initials, "AW" incorporated into a W shape. That's my one/only complaint...the W mint-mark SHOULD be there, and the initials smaller and less conspicuous, somewhere down and out, like they were on the old T-1 reverse. The mint made an effort years ago to relocate mint-marks from the reverses to obverses with the dates...understand this isn't a circulating issue but ought to keep some consistency rather than larger initials in conspicuous locations and back to mint-marks with dates. IMO...no big deal. :woot:

Indeed . We're paying way more than we should be and the mint is going cheap with the packaging.

An absolutely beautiful reverse. Since the WLH is also one of my favorite designs, this coin would have great appeal to me, but right now my wife is urging me to sell coins, not acquire them. Sure is easier to buy than sell.

It sure is easier to buy. I can imagine trying to sell coins and get back the investment. When you look in the Red Book section where issue price and current value are listed it is discouraging.

I like the design, but the laser proof frosting looks grainy. Acid frosting is much more appealing (to me).

@Jim Dale, LOL, I wonder if our wives have colluded with each other? Those are literally her own words.

Personally like the old reverse better and think they could of done a better job on the new one.

My wife didn't know how much I had spent recently, until she found a list of this year's purchases. I was suppose to shred it and forgot to. Everytime I get a box from "Fullfilment Center", she says, "Another one of those coins, huh?" She tends to forget about those things that she gets. Now, when I get a box and open it when she's around. She likes to look at them, but isn't that interested. Steve, it seems we both have good wife's that want us happy. (I hope.)

It took a bit, but I’ve become quite fond of the new reverse.
