I've been looking for a TAL struck half cent for quite some time, but haven't come across one. Congrats!

I wish I had pictures of all of my 1804 half cents. At time that I had them, I shooting photos with film, and most of my pictures were slide transparences. For whatever reason, I can’t seem to locate them.

For what it’s worth, here are the grades I assigned to the 1804 half cents at the time:

    C-1 VF-35
    C-2 No coin
    C-3 Delisted, no coin
    C-4 Good 6
    C-5 EF-40
    C-6 EF-40, late die state
    C-7 VF-30
    C-8 AU-55
    C-9 EF-40
    C-10 EF-40
    C-11 VF-25, hairlined from brushing.
    C-12 AU-50
    C-13 AU-55

Actually it was frustration over not being able to get the C-2 that ended my half cent collecting days.

Here is the only piece that is left, an 1804 C-5.

    Here is the 1804 C-12

C-3 is just a die state of C-5. It's not a legitimate variety.

Nearly all of the plain edge 1795s and 1797s were struck on TAL tokens.

How many of them show visible undertype?

Well, I haven't looked at them all, but I'd say it's less than half, but certainly pretty common.

Every US type set needs them, including mine. I don't have any yet but looking forward to acquiring some. In the mean time, lets not post threads about them to keep the popularity (prices) down. :D

All of the 1794 dies were sunk from the same hub. They were thereafter altered, some heavily.

For some reason I don't own any US Half Cents. I guess its because it's a series you don't hear a whole lot about like 20 cent pieces which I don't have either. Someday I will get around to purchasing one.

So did I. I thought Thomas Jefferson designed it with a large Bow as well, lol. Later I learned it was actually a Cap & Pole.

That’s a scarce variety with only a few huffed examples known.
