Too bad those ladies don't understand the value lost in buying jewelry and just accept bullion or collectibles in place of rings, necklaces and such... and coin jewelry doesn't count because it damages the coin! Ain't PM investing romantic! :rolling:
It's hard enough to convince my buds to convert some of their cash to gold, but it would be an impossible task to convince their wives to give them the green light to do so. I was just thinking over the weekend how we are trained to just follow the rules and not to question it. To have a bank account, savings account, IRA, all the cookie cutter ways of storing your cash, not realizing that your 2% (if you're lucky) that you get from your savings account, that cash is used to loan to someone else at MUCH higher rates. And to top it off, uncle sam has the nerve to tax you on that rotten 2%!!! How everyone is suppose to contribute as much to their IRA as possible because their cookie cutter chart shows that when they retire, they'll have millions waiting for them!! But in small print, they are not liable for losing ALL your money if the DOW tanks.... So now, when gold does remotely well for a short period, the MSM is quick to call it a gold bubble, so people can go back to asking stock questions for their wall street buddies...
Gold May Advance in New York as Weaker Dollar Spurs Demand http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601091&sid=aVZusQBj2hAo
I dont know about a bull run but I just got a E Mail from APMEX they are offering FREE SHIPPING on orders over $5000.!. I guess they can afford it to with those premiums!. MIGHTY GENEROUS! HUH?
They lowered the premiums by $20, but it's still too high for my taste. Which is fine, I can start collecting Palladiums which I've been meaning to do. Gold did pretty well today so far though. Started around $1112 or so this morning and now at $1125.00...
The spread is $50. As long as its always $50, who cares they are paying $30 over spot and charging $80 over spot.
Well assuming you buy/sell from APMEX and their spread doesn't change, then if spot is at $1000 and you buy at $1080 and you could sell right back at $1030 for a difference of $50. Lets say their premium was $50 over spot and they kept the $50 spread. Spots at $1000, you pay $1050 and you could turn right round and sell it back for $1000 for a difference of $50. The rub comes IF they changes the spread (i.e. difference between bid/ask) or if you could buy from one and sell to someone else who different premiums and do a little arbitrage.
ahhh! Got it. Thanks for the explanation, I will have to keep this mind. I've never sold to APMEX, you could ask Yankee, since they purchase from him when they can't get a hold of the US Mint... I think they were paying Yankee $20 over spot?
It's been a few months since I inquired about some gold bullion. Back then it was $60 premium to purchase, then they would buy back for free. I think that was Goldline. The APMEX man is a member on here isn't he??? I thought I remembered seeing him comment a couple of times. Are there any PCGS, ICG, ANACS or NGC coin graders that are members here?
now apmex is buying AGE bullion at $30.00 over spot and selling at $90.00 over spot. and for 100 pc. selling is at $80.00 over spot. for AGB bullion. apmex is buying at $30.00 over spot and selling at $110.00 over spot. current prices for bullion AGE fractional: half ounce - bid $590.63 ask $624.23 1/4 ounce - bid $300.97 ask $339.98 1/10 ounce - bid xxxxxx ask $150.48
prices raw mint coins with complete neat box and c.o.a. command better price than slabbed ms69 or proof69. that is when you try to sell them back to the dealers. and for the ms70 or proof70. when you sell back to them. you only make few % profit. only the dealers win win again. cause when you buy from them. everything will be very expensive. they even price those slabbed coins accordingly. like first strike. ultra cameo and so forth. then you have to pay the price. the gap between bid and ask is at least 50% and or above. my advise is don't slab it. keep original. someday the original mint products with box and c.o.a. will be few and it will command a nice premium.
Hey guys: I came across this article, actually I'm still reading it. I've never heard of this guy so if anyone can chime it, that would be great... https://www.fabian.com/offers/products/si-wd-angel-12-15/
