I found this in a junk bin today. It doesn't look like a coin I've ever seen, though I can't count it out. I figured a token is probably more likely. Anyone know what this is?
光緒 guang1xu4 戊申 wu4shen2 總 zong3 一文 yi1wen2 Not sure, but here's one for sale for $1500 Taiwan. It mentions Emperor Guangxu and I think it says 1908. 戊申 is a year in the 60 year cycle such as 1908 and 1968. Some sore of a medal worth 10 cash maybe? I can find lots of examples with an image search, but they are all in Chinese only.
Appears to match these. Tientsin. I don't see a difference, but very different valuations. Anyone see the difference between the two or does Numista just have a bad listing? https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces243382.html https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/china-empire-cash-y-7-1908-cuid-1051523-duid-1291694
Good job, you got it. I think one listing is a copper pattern and the other is brass. Mine is brass I would say.
Its from central mint. Relatively common however getting a bit harder to find these days. Still worth more than a few dollars
