I'm confused, did APMEX just increase their premium again?

Gold at $1175 currently, and their asking $1286...

    That's a $111 premium over spot!!!

EIther they just haven't updated their price (most likely) or they aren't accepting the dip. From a practical point, spot is almost meaningless right now (too strong, but you get the drift). Dealers are buying at a premium to spot and selling at an ever wider spread.

There are two markets, the big boys and the little boys. (Probably) none of us have the resources to play with the big boys -- except maybe Yankee after he has liquidated his Gold reserves :)

These "paper" investors are a fickle lot. They won't get through the first chorus of "Happy Days are Here Again" before the next news blurb turns their sentiment 180 degrees.

How anybody could think that a good (ie: fabricated) jobs report means we have turned the economic corner and are on the path to unbridled prosperity....completely escapes me. Remember Dubai's woes...that was going to be the end of the run because the dollar strengthened...oh yeah, then they woke up.

There's too much crap in the soup for it to smell like soup to me, so when it comes to what they're dishing up today...I'm not hungry.

The economy is starting to improve. Unemployment dipped to 10%.

As long as there are continuing positive signs for the economy, gold will fall.

My prediction is gold at $1000 before March 31, 2010.

The key to that is "as long as there are signs that the economy is continuing to improve".

Too many job killing bills before Congress for that to be the case....and they're all chompin' at the bit to pass 'em so they can get "their piece of the pie"....at our expense. Then there's social security....a rapidly growing pool of first time benefactors...and a shrinking revenue base. That's another recipe for disaster.

I'm not buying into the "things are getting better" theory. There's no meaningful effort to correct the course we're on. There's not even any meaningful discussion about it.

The economy is improving very slowly, but the politicians are trying to make the public believe that everything is great! The fact that Obama just increased troops over to Afganistan is a good indication that the price of gold will continue to grow!!! There are many insecure areas in our economy.

Insecure dollar growth = higher gold prices!! Also, don't forget that our country is not the only one who is in the middle of an economic downturn. Gold will not go down in price for quite some time!! Believe it!!

Is it time to buy gold? I'm keeping my eyes open, that's for sure!!! :D

    Absolutely amazing...

APMEX still holding onto a $111 premium over spot. They must have bought a bunch very high during the last couple of days....

    Yankee really made out!!!

I think today's price drop has caught EVERYONE off guard. there's no reason for it IMO...

Going from 10.2% UE to 10% isn't that huge of a difference....are people that easily influenced that the economy is getting better?

    Besides, it's not even 10% it's more like 17+%.....
