Here we have a 1976-1976 Bicentennial Gold Plated Kennedy Half Dollar. This coin was a part of the original part-collection that my father got from his grandfather back in 91’, and I received in 08’ I remember first seeing this coin, I thought it was actual gold… But even though it is just gold plated, it will forever hold a special part in my collection. Any comments, and additional information that you may have on this coin, as to why somebody gold plated it would be much appreciated. Is it a novelty item done by a mint like the Franklin Mint? Or was it privately done? Anyway, Enjoy Y’all! P.S. Well I am not much of a one for plated coins but I do have a couple that were bought for me as gifts by wwell meaning people, and I will never get rid of them (Including Holographic state coins LOL) LOL so I can understand why you cherish it
I'm a big fan of the dual date 1776-1976 coins thought I don't have any gold plated versions of these. Great background story!
Cool novelty piece. I have one similar from littleton, but I am not positive if they actually did the plating stainless
