I believe that this is one of the coolest coins, I will ever own in my lifetime! When I first saw this coin, back when my dad gave it to me, in June of 08’, I knew I was in love. My father received this coin, from his father in 1991, and I recently pulled the coin outta my vault (drawer) to share with all of y’all. This is a 1991 P-40 Flying Tiger $5 Commemorative Coin, issued by the Republic of Marshall Islands.

And no, I am NEVER coming to the dark side. :D

    Nice obverse

It looks like a P-38 but I guess it is a P-40. The aircraft looks like something Green18 can identify.

She's definately a P-40 Collect. A well armored and armed aircraft (though not as nimble as the Japanese Zero) her pilots relied on diving tactics to wreak havok on the Japanese nemisis. I do believe the Tuskeegee Airmen flew this craft in Noth Africa.....

Not to be confused with the P-51 Mustang and the F-82 Twin Mustang:). Have you ever visited the Air Force Museum at Wright Paterson AFB? It is a must see for an aircraft enthusiast like yourself.
