Alrighty, another coin outta my vault, which you all should know by now is my drawer.. Here we have a 1991 Heroes of Desert Storm $5 Commemorative Coin, from the Republic of Marshall Islands. The obverse is one of my favorite obverses that I have ever seen on a coin! This one, like the others will always lie close to my heart, and I wouldn’t trade it in for the world! The photos were very hard to get, as this one was in the packaging, but was really dusty inside. Well anyway, Enjoy! P.S. Here is the list of the last Coins Outta The Vaults, in case you missed one Part 5: http://www.cointalk.com/t79836/ Part 4: http://www.cointalk.com/t79720/ Part 3: http://www.cointalk.com/t78075/ Part 2: http://www.cointalk.com/t77821/ Part 1: http://www.cointalk.com/t77740/
I like the eagle. This coin #6 has the nicest obverse in my opinion. If we knew the name of the eagle's designer, then it might be interesting to see his/her other works.
Can't seem to find anything on who designed the coins, online or anywhere in the little history/certificate of authenticity booklet that is comes in.
Maybe you know these links and info already, but perhaps this can help you figure out where these came from and who designed the coin/eagle. I found this Google document of an original offer for the coin in some newspaper. The file may download slowly and you may need to zoom out to see it. The coin seemed to be offered by Unicover Corporation of Cheyenne Wyoming. I just typed in the name of your coin in the Unicover product search box to find the item below. Heroes of Desert Storm: Official Coin First Day Coin Cover says Designer: Howard Koslow (Stamp and Coins)
I have seen that ad before, and didn't really got a whole lot of info out of it. Thanks for both links though, that least one seems to tell who the designer was!
Yes and he has / there is a website with the eagle design as well. Click the eagle image in that link to see his bio and photograph. other Koslow designs
That is really something Krispy. I can't get the links to go any further than the page you gave me though. Thanks a Million!
yeah the site is bad, no navigation. I just Googled his name to get these. glad to be of some help though. edit: just tried those links again and they are now "forbidden", not sure what's going on there. so here is the main page that still works art work originals
