I'm very new here and was wondering who owns the rarest or most valuable coin on this forum?I have not been able to go into alot of the past topics yet so if this has already been discussed then I apologize.

Many forum members own coins which have only one or two specimens known. And some have coins that are rather expensive. As recent threads have shown, these two do not always match up.

We really need an icon that says WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
As to your question. Not easy since rarest and/or most valuable are very different subjects. For top 250 prices on coins just check out the Red Book pages 413to 417 and you never really know if anyone here is on that list. Usually if anyone here is on that list, they don't want to let it known since no one really knows who is here and what possible methods they are capable of in finding who and where you are.
That being said, the most valuable to some could and may well be worthless to others. My most vauable coins are the ones from my Dad when I was a kid. No price on those at all. They are way to valuable to even estimate and yet not much in a price guide.

Carl makes an excellent point. I'll tell you right out I'm not one with any coins of mentionable rarity, but if I was there are only a few select people here I'd share that knowledge with and in private. You never know who's trolling these forums and what their motives might be. I respect your sincere desire to know but I doubt you'll get many to own up to the challenge.

As far as the World's most valuable coin goes, there is supposed to be a huge Indian gold coin which resides at a bank in Switzerland. It was at auction one time. A large amount was bid but the owner wanted more so the coin didn't sell.

There is also the 1933 double eagle bazillion dollar story.

You can find both stories on the Internet I think.

    ...not. :)

To be frank, I find the question rather unimportant and slightly inappropriate.

However, I suspect the answer for "most valuable" is TradeDollarNut.

I have no idea for sure who owns the most expensive, but several of us can make the claim of owning the rarest because we own pieces that are unique.

What do you mean by "I bet you all have your own individual prize pieces"? I'm not sure I follow....Mike

p.s. as an aside, I find your avatar quite funny.

I think he means that we all have the best coins, because we all have coins that are our own favorites and most valuable, and it doesn't necessarily have to correspond with a dollar amount. In a sense, we all have the most valuable coins.
