That set will always warm my heart. 2006 was a cash cow. I flipped about 100 of those sets raw. It was a feeding frenzy. I'm not a modern slabber or a 70 chaser so I can't offer an opinion on when/how to buy. I think they have done settled but I haven't been keeping track.

I did load up on an NGC box (20 coins) of PF70 Reverse proofs on a hunch. It's just a beautiful coin. I haven't been a buyer in months, I'm a seller now so I haven't been looking for bargains.

PS. I took a look on ebay and it looks like a 70 set is hovering around $1,000. Hard to believe the set issued for $100 and at the height of the frenzy, raw sets were selling for $500-$700. Those were the days.

Andrew, You are a true Romantic, like I! I've asked myself why I collect and I beleive You like myself buy for the artistic historical touch and profit a secondary treat! I'm not denying any touch of avaristic tendencies. Then you were correct also with the Ultras. They are beautiful. Thank You for letting me reflect on those things in life that have multible returns. These sets are beautiful and I'll save up 2 months for the finest and PRETTIEST! Thank You for your sincerity~

Heres one, Would you pay the extra price to purchase a guarenteed slated Buffalo, ms70 from a third party, or take your chances and hope you wind up with one Gem 70 for your collection. tks Paranoid Eric, Esq.

I bought a American Gold Buffalo (AGB) coin from the mint the first day they went on sale and I bought a slabbed MS70 first strike uncirculated AGB.
The mint AGB cost I think $1,364.95 and the MS70 cost $1,320.00. The Mint coin has more eye appeal in my opinion. I should've bought two mint AGB coins. You need to see some Buffalo cameo coins or American Eagle cameo coins as they're out of this world. You should Goggle for coin shows in your area you'll be amazed at what you see at these shows. You can learn a lot. I don't know enough to buy any expensive coins at shows. I buy those from the Mint, APMEX or Monaco.

Also, consider Mexican Libertad coins, EU/France The Sower coins and British Britannia coins. All are available in gold and all are beautiful.

    Good Luck

Thank You for your opinion. Do you think that maybe the Mint packenging has something to do with it. Our mint has taken presentation to a new level. I have decided that I will follow your lead and go for both. The slabbed would be much easier to turn over if thing get tough. Thank You again and I wish You continued success in you adventures. Thanks for the APMEX turn one. Great prices and Great selection!!!

The proof coin without the packaging looks better then the MS70 coin. I don't think the MS70 will carry the premium that a Mint proof w/ box will command. At the Whitman Show in Baltimore today, from some dealers, the 2009 MS70 eaRLy release was selling for about $100.00 less then I paid for it.

After reading a lot of threads on this forum I changed my focus from investing in coins to enjoying the coins and investments as the secondary goal.

Pure gold guys. these things stike up really well. You're almost guaranteed a '69 or a '70 so why pay a slab premium?

Two dealers the Whitman show told me my AGB (no mint mark) NGC MS70 first strike was worth bullion price. I should have bought two AGB proofs from the Mint.
Looks like my love affair w/ grading uncirculated new coins is over for awhile.

Being a Neophyte to collecting I have been checking out those I hope a reputable dealers.APX and Monico have gotten the 'go' however today I chance upon "Paramount" with its flashy front page. Has anyone had any dealings with them. You can send an email if You want to remain hush hush.I really thank you all, Free Legal Advice Eric, Esq, snookem13@aol.com

    Luger

Keep the Luger ! There are fewer quality lugers with a shoulder stock than UHR 2009s.

Actually, two more had detachable stocks, the artillery and this 1908 Navy. Like coins, there rarer to piece, the higher the value. Like coins, the nicer the piece the wider the market. The difference, gold coins have an seperate intrinsic value and will never go below this value. Both will always have a market. It all depends on when to buy and when to sell. And of couse, presentation is the key>

    A Case for Slabbed Coins

At the Whitman Show I bought a plastic container designed for coins in PCGS holders. I placed all of my slabbed coins, including NGC slabbed coins, in the container. It's a very easy way to organize my growing collection. I do like the mint presentations, especially the UHR and AGB but I'm learning to like slabbed coins even more.

When will it end. What is the cutoff dated for the last issuance of the HIGH relief coin. I'm sure this will be the cheapest offering of this pretty gem ever! No matter what the price of gold, the coin will peak at $2k by the slab sellers after the dust settles.

Do either of the big 2 publish a current table of coin values that I can get a current value of a '2005 EAGLE G$50' instead of using an outdated Redbook?

Does anyone know where I can purchase a Bald Eagle Commerative coin,. In our move last year, I think a few of my ex-client movers helped themselve for a few trinkets. Any help would be grately appreciated, Tks Eric, Esq aka snookem13@aol.com
