AGE or AGB? I think proofs are more attractive so thats what I buy, but I need the others for the collection so ill get em at some point, just after ive got all the proofs. The unc prob wont go up as much in value, but its still nice to get one while they are unexpensive, I struggled with the idea of getting one and ended up getting 3 proofs rather than 1-UHR 1- AGB proof and 1- bullion coin AGB which was my original plan. I dont think you messed up, but my first choice is always the proofs.

"If they aren't PR70 you get them slabbed?. Grade on these coins needs to be PR70 to add value? "
if they are 69s I leave them raw. Only a 70 adds value to a coin like this. Im sure the 08 69s are selling at a premium but in general, if its not a 70 its either a draw in which case I want a raw coin for looking at and holding, or its a loss in that the coins actually sell for LESS being that a 69 is a KNOWN 69. a raw coin COULD be a 70 or not.

Sorry, I meant to type AGB. My gut told me to pass on the unc AGB but it went on sale before the AGB proof. Turns out the proof AGB arrived before the unc AGB. I did buy a AGE NGC MS70 first strike because it wasn't offered as a proof and I bought a UHR. The UHR is very loose in the plastic capsule.

It's all about cash flow:) had the cash for 2 on release day, then ebayed a bunch of gold and silver (which I am currently kicking myself for), then ordered 2 more:) all this of course in hopes of getting them graded with "early release" status etc. but I am wondering if I will get them in time...

So 4 ordered - none on the way yet... Someone needs to light a fire at the mint and get me my buffalos!!!

you have a WHILE to get the coin. They ALWAYS overnight for gold coins so even if they ship the 23rd, it will get there tues and you over night to NGC/PCGS. the cut off is dec 5th.

I hope you get them soon. All indications seem to point to a long bull run for gold. $1,116\oz may seem cheap one day.

pr70 or ms70 are actually a pr69 or ms69. a pr69 or ms69 are then a merely pr68 or ms68 and lower. i will never believe them. i mean slab companies. they make fast money. i can easily pick a pr70 or ms70 by using my two eyes. because modern coins using modern machines with latest technologies and computers. it can easily produce a very good quality coin. i don't have to send it for slab. i just pretend they were all pr69 to pr70 or ms69 to ms70. all my coins were came and bought directly from the u.s.mint. all new and i preserved them well. including boxes, sleeves, capsules, c.o.a. all accessories were also cover with clear plastic. silica gel for coins and all accessories as well. for many years. all coins were very new as if it just came out from the mint. p.s. i don't have to spend any money for slab. and i don't sell them. that is my baby.

Only reason for slabs is to sell the coin online for insane prices. If you keep them and buy them only from the mint then +1 for not slabbin them.

the mint is taking opportunity today by not increase its gold products right away. because the business is not quite good. today. the mint will take a lot more orders to cover the sluggish business the past few weeks.

i heard they have a problem on AGB. some 7,000 pc were damaged. i don't know if it is true. i ordered 10 on the early first day. still "in process and reserve". but i am not in a hurry. if damage is true. then i will wait for them to fix it before ship it to us.

That really ticks me off that the mint doesn't even follow their own freaking rules. Lets wait until tomorrow to see what the mint decides to do before I start to rant and rave. :computer:

Their real problem was setting "rules" they are a business... they are there to make money and thats all they try to do. Only reason is makes everyone mad is because they set these systems up and then dont follow them or bend them to make more cash.

Elaine brought up a good point yesterday that since it was a federal holiday that may be the reason why the mint did not raise its prices. But as of 8:18am no change yet. Maybe that bought the mint another day to average in.

the mint should change its price today. no matter using 9-1/2, 10, 10-1/2 or 11 london average gold price. the average is still over $1,099.99.

If you look at the London AM fix for the week when the AGB came out it was just under $1,050. These *should* have been $1,310 for the first week, but the mint clearly ignored their own policies and priced it at $1,360 anyway.

Nope, they used a different set of numbers that made it one 29 cents over.

"For the relevant period, the average is $1,050.28. Even though the current price of gold is $1,035 per ounce, the coins are priced based on the US Mint's $1,050 to $1,099.99 pricing tier. If the average price of gold had been 29 cents lower, the coins would have been priced $50 cheaper. Some collectors may delay purchases to see if the average price of gold allows cheaper purchases in the coming weeks."

Okay, so I gave my local coin dealer who was doing the PCGS submit for me a ring today.... said he has not even sent the coin off yet. I dropped it off a week ago today. I am considering going to pick it up and over night shipping it to NGC (who I am a member of) so I can get my damn coin back in a timely manor. Any input? This seems to me to be a total lack of respect and service, but is this the norm in the coin world when dealing with coin dealers? I paid 95$ for this damn coin to be submited.... I dont wana hear that my coin has not been mailed out because you were waiting to submit it with some other things.
