My Resolution to Keep up with Research and Write-ups: Q1 Progress

One of the things I resolved to do this year was keep up with photographing, researching and completing write ups for all my coin purchases. I started out the year doing pretty well in this regard but I’ve since fallen behind on photos and write ups for some really nice coins I’ve acquired recently. Overall I’d have to give myself a Q1 grade of C+ (don’t forget the plus!).

Even with my uneven effort over the first three months of the year I’ve managed to put together some decent research and write ups so I figured I’d re-share them here on this last day of Q1.

I often miss good threads because they drop off the front page sooner than I see them. Let’s fix that!

Curtis, Nice pickups, especially the Faustina sestertius ! The effort & work you put into "Guess the Coin Talker 2021" should kick up your grade to A+. So stop acting so modest .

Great photography wish I could say the same about mine.

 

This thread highlights one of the main problems of this forum (and the only reason that this problem exists is that this forum is full of active and knowledgeable collectors, so it is a compliment really). Many members do wonderful write-ups for wonderful coins that are full of useful info, but they soon end up way back in the thread history never to be seen again. I wish there was some kind of nicely categorised index where one could find all these articles. The featured option is quite useful and helps a lot, but not all great threads get nominated to be featured and it still is a list of threads that is many pages long. Perhaps there could be some kind of a pinned thread containing just links to great write-ups nicely categorised according to civilisation/ruler etc. What do you think?

As for my own write-ups for this year, I have realised that I haven't done many. Work has picked up and I am quite busy lately, so even though I bought many coins I didn't spend much time researching them in order to give them a nice presentation.

It reminds me what Warren (@Valentinian ) did on his own website with CT's threads. Maybe someone more courageous than me could try to do something similar ???

Many times when I log in, it brings up a page with several interesting
and well researched threads. I always take time to read the most current
ones. I click the "Like" button always.
