Ok, BNB...Once you get the silver reverse proof which is the easiest and the most affordable, next in line is the platinum reverse proof. It came out during a time when platinum saw record prices around $2000/oz and the price wasn't very affordable. Then platinum tanked in a big way, but this was before the mint adjusted its prices so the price of the coin stayed really high. Then the mint did something that shocked alot of people and angered alot of collectors who had already bought this coin at the initial high price....then the mint lowered the price... by a lot too. Here is a price example of a coin with a low mintage <20k coins, but hardly any demand. This coin will never have the value that many thought it would have, but as a collector of the reverse proof American Eagles, you need to consider getting this one. A proof 70 coin could be had for around $1000-1300. Also, since it came out a year after the other reverse proofs came out, much of the excitement about a reverse proof coin had died off. If it just came out a year earlier, it may be a different story. That would be an interesting topic to discuss....how does timing of a release of a coin affects its value?

Did the reverse proof platinum eagle only come out in the $50 denomination?
