krispy and jaceravone. are you both going to buy AGB proof tomorrow?. or wait and see till the price go down?. it looks like the mint gonna use $1,360.00. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&identifier=9100
all the mint products right now are overpriced. three price bracket overcharge. the only way to tell the mint is to boycott. and tell our CT collectors not to buy until adjustment is done. krispy will give strong complaint to the mint in behalf of us.
Todays the day.......let the horror begin....... Will the Mint be able to handle the orders ????
At $1360 each I doubt the website will be bogged down with orders like with the Lincoln Chronicles Set... Guess we will find out in a few hours!
I foresee no problems today, esp if they do not update the price today but I expect they will adjust the price down accordingly at noon.
no. it's final,, price stay the same. mint used nine average to calculate instead of ten. they have the option to choose 9 or 10 in favor for them. sorry folk. just wait for next week. check the mintage. for me i just pass this one.
elaine and others: Did you see this CoinNews story 28.8 Cents Prevents US Mint Gold Coin Price Reductions on the AGB re-pricing? (of course this affects all gold coins, not just the AGB.)
09 buffalo proof - $1,360.00 09 UHR double eagle - $1,438.00 spouse proof - $704.00 spouse unc - $691.00
I wonder if there are really that many First Day of Release buyers out there willing to pay the extra $50 (like Chiefbullsit mentioned in another thread) to buy today at this slightly higher price? And the Mint knowing how well day of release sales for highly anticipated pieces go, would not volume of sales do better should the Mint just lower the price today since it will be down next week anyway? Many people are waiting for this coin, have saved their money to acquire it if it went on sale, but may be close to tapped out on buying gold (this year particularly) and are also saving money for other things that waiting until next week, fully knowing the price will go lower as of this morning will cost the Mint some sales this week which they could take advantage of by lowering the price today from the outset. Does that make sense? or is that too rational of sales-think for Mint logic?
i change my mind and told my relatives to boycott the mint. don't buy from them. ops that is not correct. or i should said. i will buy first spouse gold instead. 17 buffalo equal to 34 spouse gold. of course that will be next week. as for UHR double eagle. i might just pass it.
my new estimate is that the 09 buffalo proof mintage might be around 40,000 to 50,000. it will be high. so i will just pass it. i will wait for next year. the mintage should be lower than this year.
Gold is taking off like a rocket right now! It was on a rise all morning, but about 30 minutes before the Buffalo went on sale it has gone straight up.
why hurrying?. by next week. if the gold is over $1,050.00 to $1,099.99. the price will still be the same at $1,360.00. it took nine months to clear the 19,000 plus 08 buffalo proof one ounce gold coin. beside, this is not a fractional gold coin. and no way to match those of 2008w buffaloes. lastly, the bullion one is more attractive investment wise.
