Sarah's attractive, but I like the Tyler twins, also. The sketches I've seen of the 2010 Pierce and Filmore coins look hideous . Sales should pick up when the Mary Todd Lincoln coin comes out...assuming gold doesn't go to $1200 as you predict.
I chickened out and bought Sarah at $654 proof and $641 unc. I didn't want to take the chance that gold would come back down in the next year.
sarah polk - the most beautiful gold spouse coin. letitia tyler - the candidate for the lowest mintage combine. (proof and unc.). and also possible the lowest unc. mintage. liberty spouses - the most popular gold spouse coin.
About three weeks ago, you asked which FS coin would be the lowest mintage...and my knee-jerk response was the Anna Harrison. Given that this is a five (5) coin year and the higher gold prices are affecting the more recent issues more than the older ones...Letitia Tyler could be the new "low mintage" for the series when it ends. It will be interesting to see if the Van Buren's will have a surge at the end or if they will beat out the Louisa Adams as the new "Key" to the series.

Elaine, you're like E.F. Hutton...when you talk, everyone listens! Sarah Polk: Unc.....up 306...21.1% Proof...up 412...14.7%
oh boy. you are back from long week end. what you think the gold will go this week?. prepare for next thursday buffalo?.
After all the excitement last week: I have one LN6 "In Stock & Reserved" and one LN6 "back ordered expected to ship 10/30"... (Let's hope someone broke the rules and ordered too many or messed up credit card billing address so I get two sets) I just got my UHR and still other coins that have been coming in from auctions and occassional bullion from dealers... Man! I tell you, this pace is breakneck! Buffalo's are going to stampede us!
well gold high for today is $1,065.70. i think this week could run up to $1,090.00 at least. what you think?.
The last two times FS coins dipped to $641/$654, I doubled up on 1) Anna Harrision and 2) Letitia Tyler (Elaine's recommendation ). Each time, the Proofs were great, but the Uncs were damaged. I just sent the Unc Anna Harrison back last Friday...the same day I received the damaged Unc Letitia Tyler...I'm not liking this at all. These aren't small blemishes, either. One looks like it was hit by the reeded edge of another coin. The other has rim dings over nearly 1/4 of the reverse rim...nothing subtle here. Either the Mint isn't QA-ing their coins before shipment or they're reshipping other people's rejects...either way, they need to do a better job. Especially considering the premiums they charge.
Twenty more weeks until Anna Harrision ends. Some time ago, I predicted final sales of the Unc Anna Harrison between 3600-3800. The Mint will have to sell between 30-40 per week to fall in that range. With... 1) the high price of gold 2) the release of the 2009 Proof Buffaloes 3) the end of the Van Buren Liberties 4) the start of the Margaret Taylor coins 5) Christmas 6) and the post-Christmas credit card payoff period ...the Unc Anna Harrision might not even hit 3600. The Letitia Tyler, Julia Tyler, and Sarah Polk may be fewer still. All three of those issues end within a three month period (July-Sept 2010...because 2009 was a five spouse year).
Those with damages are really disheartening to hear about. It's so frustrating hearing so many QC issues concerning Mint products across the CT treads and it doesn't matter that it's low or high priced products. It's ridiculous that they can't keep up with 'demand' and drop products with solid sales histories and collector bases yet up production at the detriment of all product quality. If you happen to be keeping photos of the damages you've noted I'd like to see some pics.
I sent the Anna Harrison back and I already have the Letitia Tyler packaged up to go out in the morning. If they send either of them back to me, I'll be sure to take a picture. The picture may be a bit fuzzy due to my hands shaking with RAGE!! :headbang: Counterpoint...with duplicates, I now have 44 FS coins. These are the only two (2) Uncs I've had problems with...they just happen to be the last two Uncs I ordered. I haven't had problems with the "first day" Uncs I've ordered...just the reorders after the series has been out a while. This is why I suspect they may be reshipping other people's returns. I receive a Proof Louisa Adams (I think) that had a blemish, but it turns it may have been caused by a thread from the towel they use to wipe the die and would be considered a "strike though"...so I kept it (maybe not a smart move...who knows).
Everything is on hold right now. With the prices the way they are, I need to wait until this coins go on "sale"!
to jaceravone: can you post pictures of sarah polk and julie tyler. both proof and unc. obverse and reverse. thanks.
