Stopped into my LCS on my way home today to get my weekly coin fix and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Here is what I came home with. Just a shade over spot. ($20 each over)
I only have one Gold Coin. I'd like two, that's where you come in . Nahh , just joking . Nice coins !
Sweet deals and that's how my LCS treats me as well! That said, only one shop treats me that nice, so that's the main one I go to! One hand, washes the other!
No i dont think I did, I simply made the statement that buying graded coins isn't a good idea, and thats a broad statement across the board, no matter what the cost.
Funny stuff here! Actually the slabs were just icing on the cake here and in that case seems okay to me as some charge extra for slabbed coins.
I think it was a great purchase slabbed or raw at 20.00 over hell of deal I would think. What a way to finish out a week would make my weekend I would be super excited about it..... I am a nervous person anyways, but nice buy BEAVER 96
I buy the coin or metal not the slab. That the coins were in slabs was just a bonus. I got a deal on the bullion that was more than fair. I do most of my business with this dealer and we have developed a relationship that benefits both of us. He made $80 on on a deal of 4/10ths of an ounce of gold. The transaction took all of 5 minutes with pleasantries exchanged. and I'll go back next week.
Yeah, I'm glad @beaver96 posted this thread because that is how bullion coins are sold, by weight with a premium of $20 bucks or a maybe a bit more, like if you're buying a St. Gaudens. Last time I bought a St. Gaudens I paid $30 over spot. I stay away from all gold coins that have a sticker price. Sure, if something catches my eye and I really want it, I may make an offer on a sticker priced item but not normally as I'm currently staying away from pre-33 gold.
