I always had best luck going to shows with Franklin's in the wallet. Paying cash on the spot is always the cheapest way to obtain pm in my 40 year experience. I have a local dealer that knows me. I just bought an 1838 16 peso Columbia piece yesterday from on a whim. He let's me write a check out to cash since he knows me. Same effect if the dealer trusts you. If the dealer doesn't know you, cash makes you his friend. Most dealers can spot fake cash, and they have no haircut or worry about their money. Plus, no trail let's them sort out their taxes how they wish.
Very close. Almost splitting hairs. The sales tax is collected based on the state the item is shipping to. That's not necessarily where you live.
My local Guys cant keep stock. I dont know where you are, but silver is difficult to buy. Gold, larger coins are available and smaller one dont sell well. Just look at the 11th, 1/4, 1/2, 1/10th all sold out at high prices via the Mint. What is coming is NOT a Zombie Apoc... Amazing so many people ignore reality, or worse yet, make fun of it because their own situation is good. Mine situation is good too, but so many struggle after believing the Government, the FED, Lying Globalist that love too tell you there is only 1% inflation via CPI YOY for the past 30 years. Lie after lie... Yet the Golden generation and their Pension plan life styles afford them the ability to make fun of this disaster...
I would stick to a local willing to deal in Cash Only... Too much online purchases line you up as a go to guy when it is needed.
Yes I am seeing low stock on fractional gold coins of USA and especially Canada. Plus some notable premiums over spot.
If I was preparing for a disaster I'd be inclined to buy quarter ounce gold eagles or British gold sovereigns... nothing too big that the person you're buying survival supplies from can't give change!
I like cash too unless the discount is less than 3% below other forms of payment. The reason it’s 3% is because I get 3% cashback on all purchases with my Discover It Miles credit card. So if 1 oz of gold is being sold for $1950 cash or $2,000 with a credit card I would use my credit card since I’d pay $2000 but I’d get $60 cashback making the true price $1940 which is less than the cash price.
I honestly think Platinum has more potential from a bullion investing point of you as most PM,s are over priced, but in a doomsday scenario I think Gold would be better just because the familiarity with most people but if you were going to look at it like that buying 1/10 OZ gold to pay for goods and services would probably be your best bet
Um, not sure I would. The 3% is only your first year, and its only usable for travel. I looked up your card, since I had never heard of a 3% cash back. I have the citi double cash back, and wanted to make sure its still the best cash back card.
American Express Rose Gold, points galore that translates in to big dollars ! I use it for everything
Would you mind answering this question for me since you live in Europe, please? Don't the banks in Europe offer various gold coins of the world for sale? Can't you buy pre 1933 US gold coins in European banks, specifically German banks, i.e. Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, etc.? What is the spread on such purchases and what about the customary Value Added Tax affixed to such potential transactions? I remember the early 1970's when I was there but unfortunately had no money to buy US gold coins. I remember seeing various gold coins of the world on display in bank windows.
My husband just bought a gold coin from there. I told him to make sure you got paid for the sale . For anyone wondering, they had the best price for a Maple Leaf.
So I guess you'd recommend it too? That's why I don't understand why there's something wrong with me recommending it.
Wouldn’t Gold Buffalos be better since they are .9999 fine vs a Gold Eagle’s .9167 fine? I’m just asking because in the event of a “zombie apocalypse” (or any kind of apocalypse) it would be difficult to purify a Gold Eagle whereas a Gold Buffalo can be melted as is and used as pure gold. Or better yet maybe a .9999 fine bar like from Perth Mint or Valcambi.
