I have 2 1/10 oz gold Australian Kangaroos and would like to buy some other 1/10 oz coins. Is there a good place to buy single 1/10 oz Eagles, Maple Leafs, Pandas, Krugerands, etc. at near spot price (if that's the right term)? I hope someday I'll be able to afford some of the larger size and older US gold, but for right now 1/10 oz coins are in my budget.
try your local coin shop ( if you have one near you ) My local shop has a whole tray of 1/10 gold pieces as well as other bullion stuff. if you do not have a coin shop near you, try ebay or search for bullion coins on google...

Hi Fropa. I started a similar venture about 4 years ago. I liked the size and cost of the 1/10 gold coins. (Gold was $260) I decided to see how many different countries were represented by 1/10 labelled gold. I was surprised how many there were! I now have 23 and 3 states. What has been hard is finding someone else doing the same thing! Some came from the old defunct coin auction sites but lately the only place I find any is ebay, and not very often. I stick to coins that state weight and purity, as there are a lot that are 1/10 oz that are just curio pieces.
Check coin shops, as they're usually cheaper than anything you can find on the internet. I get 1/10 oz'ers all the time and usually sell them for about $5 to $7 over "melt"...sold a handful early this week for $50 each, although with the upsurge in gold over the last 3 days they'd be higher now if I had any. If you want to accumulate gold (regardless of the size you're interested in) my advice has always been to buy what's in front of you. If the price is right, don't pass on k-rands just because you already have some and want to hold out for pandas instead. I've seen many people pass on a good deal because they were hoping for a different style/design, then decide later they should have bought them because they were sold to someone else, or gold went up, etc. Good luck and have fun! Another thing to consider is your cost of the gold, not the price. If you were not necessarily interested in 1/10 oz coins, then save your money longer and buy the larger coins to start with. Look at someones price list for bullion coins, then figure the cost per ounce of gold on each size. The one ouncers are way cheaper per ounce.
You can occasionally buy old cleaned gold coins for less than bullion value, and certainly less than a modern bullion coin. Of course, it's cleaned, but it also might be 100+ years old.
