The last thing I agree with you on. The others let's just agree to disagree.

You are correct that aftermarket colorization will always be viewed by the hobby as PMD. However, now that the mints are doing it, it cannot be considered damage. Therefore, they could appreciate or depreciate like any other coin.

If you do not want to buy coins that cannot appreciate, I would say not to buy coins. Coins are a money sinkhole. Given the high buy-sell spread almost all collectors lose money, especially considering inflation. Investments are investments, coins are wasted hobby money. Sure, better than spending all of your hobby money on boating or other activities with NO return, but still not an investment. Absent bullion coins I consider part of my portfolio, I consider every cent spent on coins as wasted money, since I will never sell. My kids might get some money, but I will be dead so I will not care if they sell or not.

Even though I'm not a big fan of colorized coins I did get the BHOF and sent it in to PCGS just so I could get a orange box.

There's nothing to disagree on, its a fact that the these colorized coins are exactly the way the mint made them to be and its a fact that some have gone up in value
