so looking at J.wexlers and variety vista I do not see this exact DDR. full cion phot from pixel 3 phone
Wow, Sorry , I have no idea what your looking at . Help me/us see what your seeing for educational purposes . Thanks .
so are you new to double die coins? if so look at both photos side by side the color is double. you can go to J. Wexler web site https://doubleddie.com/1192040.html
Not new to Doubled Dies not Double die . I'm am new however to the 2013 DD Maryland coin . I must be blind because I don't see it . Can anyone explain this one to me ?
look @ the windows lower part of the windows/door @ the bottom, and the starburst in the middle can u not follow the photos they show what u need to look at? the green lines ARE THE DOUBLING
Okay , I'll take your word for it . You have the coin after all . Which one out of the 16 ! variations do you think you have ?
i did say this is a new ddr! but WDDR-008 is close but not showing the bottom firework-burst or right side of the coin so i can't say its wddr-008 if your on a computer click on the photo and it will in-LARGE YOU WILL SEE THE DOUBLING BETTER
@Raizac are there any die markers listed in the entry. Coins may not show all anomalies due to die stage.
no this is what Wddr-008 says 2013-P 25¢ MD WDDR-008 Description: Doubling spread to the south shows on the bottom of the arch, the bottom of the three windows above the arch, the roof above the windows, and along the roof line to the right of the windows and the arch. Die Markers: Obverse: None significant. Reverse: None significant. Submitted By: Don Hall Cross References: None known Comments: This variety is very similar to WDDR-005 but lacks the doubling on the spray of the firework burst. 2013-P 25¢ MD WDDR-005 "Best Of" Variety Description: Doubling spread to the south shows on the bottom of the arch, the bottom of the three windows above the arch, and along the roof line. Slight doubling shows on the bottom right spray from the lower firework burst. Die Markers: Obverse: None significant. Reverse: None significant. Submitted By: Marilyn Keeney & Daniel Ksycki Cross References: None known "quoted from j.wexlers web page:" my coin the doubling is in the middle of the firework spray
The close up you provided of the firework "burst", in the central part as you pointed out, "doubling"appears on both sides of each ray. This is normally a sign of a very worn die. I, therefore, am of the opinion it is Die Deterioration Doubling.
wow, what is going on with ppl on coin talk? you have no clue anymore I know what I'm talking about . you can clearly see split it in the firework burst middle this is not shelf like at all the shelf-like will not have a defined split it would merge back into the device or look like it's cut into the device I will just send this into J. Wexler and prove you wrong again just like this one
I certainly see what you’re referencing. I myself am curious to see what others say for my own educational purposes, because I’ve come across things like this on other coins, but informative sites tell me machine/strike doubling. We all know I’m new and can’t provide a solid response, but I’m curious to know what the final determination is.
The mint uses a single squeeze method for making dies, which theoretically should have eliminated doubled dies. However, during the single squeeze process, the hub can shift slightly as it's pressing, which can result in a doubled appearance, much like Mechanical Doubling on a coin. It's called Class IX doubling. Technically, they are doubled dies as the doubling occurs during the die making process, not the minting process, but the mechanism is different than the older doubling. That's why they look flat. Unfortunately, many collectors don't get very excited over Class IX doubling. IMO, they seem to be more common than the traditional doubling and look a lot like MD (NOTE: I have no data to back this up and could be wrong).
