    Fascinating. How accurate in general were Dardel's drawings? Although the obverse looks like a match, the reverse portrait on the drawing does not closely resemble the one on your coin.

    Dardel was quite accurate, especially in reproducing individual coin peculiarities such as edge definition, off strikes, test cuts, etc. His reproduction of the actual coin design is less accurate IMO unless the coin has a something defining such as a symbol or mintmark.

    One can find many examples of coins he has drawn that currently reside in Paris or the British Museum and can be compared today with online photos.

    I'm not 100% positive because I haven't researched their provenance, but I'm pretty sure these are examples. Very rare coins so unlikely they have a doppelgänger.
