I agree with you Elaine since production was halted short, those collectors that didn't get one will definately want one.

with gold keep on uptrend. i think the american eagle 2006w, 2007w and 2008w. specially the fractionals. will go higher and higher each year. remember only 9,200 people on this planet can collect the complete american eagle gold series. and only 29,500 can collect the american eagle silver dollar series.

if gold go to $1,200.00 an ounce. then those carried with w mint mark uncirculated gold eagles and buffaloes will up another 50% to 100%.

    Hi Elaine/all,

Yeppers, I scooped up both the 2008W 1/4 and 1/2 oz. to go with my 2007W 1/2 oz. Then I had them slabbed and they came in at MS-70.

    cha-ching!

The mintages are historically low and therefore, some time in the future, these should be a lot more valuable than they are today. That's why I had them slabbed. That they came back as 70's, was just sheer dumb luck.

    works for me,

I was afraid that I might not get my 2 coin Gold Prosperity Set because I ordered it real late after you were talking about how the fractionals would probably rise, but I got an email Monday telling me they shipped it. I was at my office and couldn't get it yesterday, but had UPS re-route it to my office today. Now that I have it in hand, I don't know if I should open it or not. I'll probably sell it a few months down the road, and it would probably bring more money if it was still mint sealed. Still yet, I'd like to see the darned box because I've heard it is real nice. Seen it in pictures, but it is probably nicer in hand. I know that my UHR box blew my mind when I actually saw it.

yes, after waiting so long. my relative order was being cancel by the mint.

I couldn't stand it any longer. I had to open it and see. It really is a neat little box. Not as spectacular as my UHR box, but it's a close 2nd. It sure beats the heck out of the old blue velvet book things.

The thing about the boxes are that you get to keep them at home and enjoy them. The gold has to go to the safety deposit box at the bank. I'd like to keep them at home too, but it's just too risky. Ya never knows when your house might catch fire, or somebody knock the door in and get their head blown off.

I'm really glad you mentioned the mintage being low on these. I have some friends that said they didn't want one because it was some Chinese thing and they didn't want it. Glad I got one now! I'm sorry your relatives missed out though Elaine.

    Nice pics, Charlie

Tell me, does the coin holder part have a angled back so that you can push down and flip the coins up like the UHR?

I am still waiting on my prosperity set. I ordered literally at midnight PST the night before they sold out so I may or may not get mine. Though the cancel box is gone and there is a pending charge on my card so who knows.

    Argento,

Yep, the coin holder block is exactly like the UHR, and has the magnet thing that holds it in place...you can just flip it over. I was thinking that I might be one of the last, but it looks like your is gonna make it. I would've missed out if I hadn't caught one of Elaine's posts. I'm really glad I got it.

Elaine said some of her relatives were too late and missed out.

That box is definitely more proportional to the coins when compared to the UHR's box. I like it. Though I am a bit of a box junkie. I am a big-time sucker for a nice humidor despite the fact that I don't smoke cigars.

Imagine a mint product offering where the presentation box had an inset glass top? maybe with the US Mint logo etched into the glass? It'd have to be for something awesome though.

I lost my Mom about 6 months ago, now I have her coffee table with glass on top, and it is about 8 inches deep so that you can put things in it. That's where I keep a lot of coin parafernalia, like the boxes, etc. The end tales are the same as she had them special built about 20 years ago. Coins have to go to the bank, but can enjoy the boxes and stuff.
