Nice to search in one's collection for a coin that fits in the Coin Theme Game. This is my only coin identified as minted in Ray (the ruin town near Teheran).

    6028 ct.jpg

Abbasid revolution, fals, Rayy, AH 12x (= about 745 AD). Abdallah b. Mu’awiya (744-747). Obv. with 6 ringlets in the edge. Rev. with countermarked portrait of Sasanian type, some lettering right. 21 mm, 3.40 gr. Cf. Album 34 auction nr. 251. "ABBASID REVOLUTION: 'Abd Allah b. 'Umar, governor of Sistan, 743-748, AE fals (3.34g), NM (AH128), Album list D208 ('RRR'), worn host (only Fair), but with the important countermark of a Sasanian style bust without crown, facing right, with the Arabic word ja'iz behind his head". See Zeno 27745.
This coin was in a very affordable CNG lot of rare early islamic coppers. I tried to make a clearer pic of the countermark:

Somewhat belatedly I discovered that I have 1 coin of a Caliphate minted in Africa, to be precise in Cape Africa! This was one of the Roman names of a town in nowadays Tunisia, also called Aphrodisium, but refounded in 921 by the Fatimids as Al-Mahdiyya. It's where the Mahdia Shipwreck was found, that yielded some high quality Greek sculptures destined for rich Romans (80 BC).

AV dinar, Fatimid Caliphate, Caliph Al-Zahir, 419 AH = 1029 AD. 23.5 mm, 4.29 gr.

Please show a rare coin of the 6th-8th century.

Not quite a coin, and not quite the 6th-8th centuries specifically, but these irregular silver pieces circulated as a type of hacksilver in the early Central Javanese markets under the Mataram Kingdom that rose during the mid-8th century. They're pretty rare and don't come to market often; these pieces are quite small.

Chalukyas of Gujarat- ‘Gadhiya Paisa’, anonymous ruler. 950-1050AD.
This coin has the degenerative design inspired from the earlier Sassanian coinage of the king's face on the obverse with fire-altar on the reverse.
