hehe. seriously though, she didn't marry because she was invented. A figment of Frenchmen imagination.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianne "The origins of Marianne, depicted by artist Honoré Daumier, in 1848, as a mother nursing two children, Romulus and Remus, or by sculptor François Rude, during the July Monarchy, as an angry warrior voicing the Marseillaise on the Arc de Triomphe, are uncertain." unless you're talking about these Mariannes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianne#Models
OK, you guys have a really short memory, but my superior poker recall remembers all. I will say that the first poll on this subject didn't settle anything because they were essentially even. http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t44523/ As far as your request Jack, this Morgan has a DMPL obverse with a brilliant reverse, so it should work for a comparison. In this comparison, I vote the Peace Dollar hands down. But to compare white coins is really unfair. The Morgan Dollar simply has way to much to offer with respect to toning. If you compare two toned examples, I will usually go with the Morgan Dollar. I think to settle this, we will have to start another thread instead of hijacking this one though.
Peace dollar for me. With all the Lincoln cent collectors, it would be interesting to see what happens if/when the series ever dies.
I would put them in this order, most popular first... Lincoln Cents Morgan Dollars Silver Eagles Walking Liberty Halves Mercury Dimes Jefferson Nickels Peace Dollars Roosevelt Dimes Buffalo Nickels Jefferson Nickels
