1994D pennie

    I can't find any reference to a 1994D doubled die. So, what am I to make of the D on this coin?

    That would be Die deterioration doubling.

    Plating issue. If the plating around the D mint mark is compromised then it will get zinc rot.

    And correct again, split plate doubling.

    It's Zinc so take your best shot but it's not a Doubled Die.
