In my opinion, I agree with Elaine, if you don't buy it now, you will probably end up paying more for it later. Inflation and the faith that the paper money is actually worth what it stands for is not what it used to be. Incidently, the fixed price for Gold is decided by 5 men, and their price serves as the fixed price for the entire world. They conference twice a day, morning and afternoon, and they put prices out to dealers, and if more want to buy, then the fixed is higher, and if more want to sell, then the fixed is lowered. It's pretty simple. Wish I had that job!

 

I tried checking the Track Order status of my purchase on the Mint's Web site again only to be denied. So, I called the 800 number they gave to provide customers a way to speak directly with someone at the Mint. I followed the automated instructions and recieved a recorded message telling me that my call couldn't be taken at this time.

Too funny! What a bunch of clowns!

I buzzed them last Thursday. Talked to a nice Young gentleman who was quite helpful. He answered all of my questions very professionally but could not pinpoint when my order would be shipped. He also offered no clue as to when the automated tracking system would be back up and running.

 

Are these 5 men near the phone, at the ready 24/7 while gold trades thru the day?....except of course for the couple hours it doesnt trade, so they can get some sleep?

 

No, it's an AM/PM deal. They conference in the morning and afternoon and adjust based on the buying and selling activity between the two calls. Roughly. I am sure there is better info out there for the exact details but that is the jist of it.

Spoke to a woman at the mint today. Although she couldn't tell me when my order would be shipped, she stated that the mint would resume shipping the UHR double eagles this week.

 

No word yet on my 30826XXX UHR, although I did receive my entire order of LN7 and LN8 Lincoln Silver Dollars today. They were delivered by UPS this time, and left on my porch. Maybe because the front is not visable nor accessable from the street, but the packaging was very sloppy. All capsules were tight inside the cases and none were damaged, but it would seem with them sloshing all around inside the box it would be very likely to happen. I hope when they deliver my gold orders that they are not packaged that sloppy or left on the porch.

 

Talked to someone at the mint today, and this lady was very snotty, As SOON as I read the order # she instantly knew it was for a uhr,, she said that she couldn't check my uhr order at that moment, said it was down for maint, but she could check another order for me. I was very very close to calling BS on her but I don't want my order to get messed with. She asked if there was anything else she could help me with,, "Do you have another number to give me"? and she was getting ready to hang up on me. I asked about the tracking. She said they are working on it. I am sure they are getting tired of being called about the uhr, But oh well they should have thought of that before they shut off the tracking feature. I know they supposedly shut it down because of the security issue, but you have to think about 40,000 people bought the uhr and I know I was checking the status at least, 3 times a day, you do the math.

 

My order was supposedo ship 2-21 (i called last week & that's what they told me).I called them today & they said it was delayed and no further info was given.I ordered it 1-22, the first day.

If someone manages to get one...and they stick it on ebay.

He'll make a fortune because of all the people desperate to get one.

 

2, ms70s have been graded by pcgs, and 1 ms69 from ncg. as far as I know. both siad they got thiers because the cancelled the book

 

it is better to clear out the last 2008w american eagle 1/2 ounce uncirculated gold coin than the high mintage UHR double eagle $20.00 uncirculated gold from the u.s. mint.

 

If I get any email confirmation on my UHR 30826XXX, or if it just happens to show up, I will definately post pictures and/or let everyone know anything I find out, just as I did with my LN7 and LN8 Lincoln Proofs and Uncs. I posted those pics yesterday over in the Lincoln Silver Dollar thread.

Hahaha, I thought our little message board had some seriously obsessed UHR fans. Over on the PCGS boards, there is one lady who seeems to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown over this mess. It's kinda sad, actually.

Personally, I have given up on the Mint. I'll get it when I get it is my new mantra.
