A unique topic? It might be. :D
My first run of sample/promo slabs featured Presidential Dollars (see {1} below). Now that I have almost run out, I decided to do a second run (no reissuing of the rare first gen sample slabs :p). Having developed an interest in coins from Kazakhstan (see {2} below-which links to my previous pickups), it seemed like the perfect opportunity to use some of them in these new slabs. I went with the 2013 50 Tenge Hedgehog (a nice design and a coin that has been on my want list for a while) and the 2014 50 Tenge Sirko (an odd but interesting combo-a Ukrainian fairy tale on a coin issued by Kazakhstan). You can watch the entire story on YouTube in link {3} below.

A somewhat related addition is my first coin from Kyrgyzstan (expanding my horizons :D). It's the 1 Som Lightly Armed Warrior from 2016.

The specifics for this next generation of promo slabs:
~5 total as pictured in the first post (3 feature the Hedgehog and 2 feature Sirko).
~2 special slabs (1 Hedgehog and 1 Sirko)

The package of 10 slabs I picked up ended up only having 7 slabs that fit the coins from Kazakhstan. The other 3 were for some reason of a different size. So those were used to make some other slabs:
~1 x 1982 Washington Commemorative Silver Half Dollar (different insert)
~1 x Presidential dollar (not related to the original run and not a sample)
~1 x Norfed 1 oz Round (different insert)

Very lovely coins, and exquisite engraving. Where would these have been minted? I'm really loving that Kyrgyzstan coin, btw.

Nice coins! The Kazakhstan mint is one of the best in the world but gets little attention in the West. It was started when the USSR broke up. It mints coins for its own country and some of the other “Stans” (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc.) and Belarus. It’s a well-run, complete mint doing design, engraving, production and distribution.

Kazakhstan is the ninth largest country in the world in terms of area and the largest landlocked. It still has Russia’s space launch facility at Baikonur. Since the demise of the space shuttle in 2011, all manned flights to the space station launched from Baikonur.

It and several other “Stans” are in the process of switching their alphabets from Cyrillic to Latin. The Latin alphabet is better suited to Turkic languages than Cyrillic or Arabic. Turkey switched from Arabic to Latin in the 20th century. The Latin alphabet also promotes economic, political and social interaction with the West.

If you look at the coins of the “Stans”, many have inscriptions in Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. Probably the Cyrillic will disappear in a few years.

Thanks for the extra info! I agree that it's a great mint and quite underrated!

As far as Belarus coins, they sure do spread out their minting! I've seen coins made by Russian mints, Kazakhstan, the Mint of Poland, the Lithuanian Mint, Kremnica Mint (Slovakia), and some other private mints.
