Some of my favorite niche areas are shields, sports and musical instruments.
Here are some of the latter:

 

Having read the obituary of Jennie Litvak, who is called the high mistress of the shofar, I wonder if the Romans when in Judea heard this instrument, an instrument with a deep throaty sound also mentioned in the Bible.

Here she blows a shofar made from the horn of the greater kudu, an African antelope, amazing:

This is one with a flute player. Maybe tibia or aulos ?

 

Rome was sacked by Brennus and the Gauls in 387 BCE. The Romans for many years were fearful, and/or dreaded this instrument of the Celts.
