Isn't that what they did with the SBA, Sac, and now the Presidential Dollar?

    to richieB16

no. it should have been a smaller coin like that of a quarter size. the dollar size like sac, susie and prez were still too big and heavy.

The face values are irrelevant too.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There is absolutely no point in changing the face value of a bullion coin. And I don't see why anyone cares.

That was kind of the point I was trying to make. The face value means nothing as it is not meant to circulate.

I knew that was your point. You and I are on the same page on this one Richie.

in order to compete with foreign countries. i think the mint should increase its face value.

That doesn't even make sense. We've been over this repeatedly. There is no reason to change the denomination.

The face value has nothing to do with the coin competing in foreign countries. All that matters is the metal content. That's it.

i still voted to change its denomination. like $50.00 eagle to $100.00. if not make any different. then the mint should have been using $20.00 for one ounce gold.

They could have, they just didn't. I'm not sure why they chose the denominations they did. But, it's not the mint's choosing. An act on Congress is needed to make any changes or create any new coins.

that is because the higher the better.

That really makes no sense. This whole argument makes no sense and is a waste of time. The only thing that matters with these coins is the metal value. Nothing stamped on them has any meaning what so ever.

what if the price metal fall below its face value. then like $50.00 is better than $20.00. the face value is guaranteed by the government.

These are bullion coins we're talking about here. They have to have a face value to be legal tender. But the only thing that matters is the price of the metal.
Everyone but RichieB16 and I seem to have given up on this arguement. So I think I will now too ;)
