Looked a long time for this check so I could match vignettes from this ANA Midwinter Souvenir card: === this check arrived today
I get a great deal of satisfaction this hobby when things sort of "come together". Remember when I post this check? ==>> well recently I found this check; with one of William Broadhead's son (Sheldon B. Broadhead) as Treasurer and another son (Almet Broadhead) as signer of the check. Oh, another Broadhead family enterprise was the Jamestown Street Railway ===== ==>> History link for reading enjoyment: http://www.jamestownny.net/departme...torical-marker-program/broadhead-enterprises/
Here's a nice check from an American manufacturing company with quite a history and lots of really great machines. ==================== ========================= == Links to their history and machines: http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/imagedetail.aspx?id=13 http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/imagedetail.aspx?id=8266

Well, I left out a very important detail from previous post regarding this item == The vignette is a reproduction of a Frank Rinehart photo from 1899. The Native American is named Good eagle (Wanbli washte) Ogalala lakota 1899 Frank Rinehart history links: 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Rinehart 2. http://www.artnet.com/artists/frank-a-rinehart/3 scroll down on this link and you'll find Good eagle in middle of a page edit to correct spelling
Nice example of an ABNCo product for a prolific banknote issuing bank; don't have any banknotes but do have one of their checks. ===================== History info: http://www.antiquemoney.com/nationa...-deep-river-national-bank-of-deep-river-1139/
I stumbled across this site today, looking for info on the web for the printing/stationers company that my great-grandfather, Edwin Bennett Young, founded in Baltimore in 1888. It advertised itself as doing printing for presidents, at least from McKinley through Harding. My great-grandfather died in 1944, his son in 1964, and I think the company was (or had been) absorbed by another company in the 60s.
Who is the payee? McGinnis Brothers and ? Have you tried to google them to see what kind of business they were? If you can make out the last name. Gearing? Bearing? Pretty neat.
