You got this backwards actually. Gnecchi published a medallion of Carus and Urbica all the way back in 1911 but was for some reason missed by RIC's authors. They did, however, publish a related Carinus-Urbica medallion (oddly citing Gnecchi). Gnecchi, being more obscure and less used as a first-hand reference, simply fell off the radar. Most dealers and collectors then just made the association with that one and ran with the ball unaware of the other coin. I republished it in ERIC II and you can also see it on Coryssa (https://www.coryssa.org/906130)

There's no question that this a family series featuring emperor and wife on one and junior emperor/mother on the other (there's also a Carinus-Numerian) which was a standard dynastic arrangement. The only other possible interpretation would be that if Urbica was Carinus's wife then Carus would be celebrating his daughter in law!

And hey, from a quick glance I think you guys missed Aemilian, Nigrinian and a bunch of usurpers.

@Suarez Wow, nice! Thanks for posting! Yours are tough to find!

Out of that cool group you posted, I just have one:

    AEMILIAN:
RI Aemilianus 253 CE AE24 Viminacium mint Moesia Bull-Lion - Damnatio Memoriae - slashed eye and throat.
    EX: @John Anthony
    https://www.cointalk.com/threads/aemilian-ae-of-viminacium.274248/#post-2338465
"Aemilian was a powerful general who defeated invading Goths and got himself proclaimed emperor by his troops. He marched on Rome and defeated Trebonianus Gallus, but when Valerian came at him with a much larger army, Aemilian's soldiers mutinied and assassinated him. He reigned all of three months in AD 253.

His short reign makes him one of the challenging slots in an emperor set, which is probably exacerbated by the fact that a damnatio memoriae was issued against him. Likely many of his already scarce issues were destroyed."

@Suarez, thanks for the clarification! And an impressive set of usurpers you have there!

I have a few more up my sleeve, but I'm out after Valentinian III in the west.

    Didn't have room earlier for

Nepotian comes next! Julian I, Alexander, Severus II, Martinian and Valerius Valens were also skipped. Almost had a chance with a "ValVal" once (sigh!)

Are we waiting on a Valerius Valens before moving on? Can't say I have ever seen one posted here (or offered for sale, for that matter!)

Not sure if we'll get Valerius Valens...should we perhaps move on to Jovian? I'm assuming someone has him!
