I just read that the 2020 p american eagle is the second lowest mintage out there, iam thinking about buying 2 of them a PCGS ms70 first day of issue (250) and a NGC ms69 (70). Iam taking a gamble knowing NOTHING about them. I know they hold some value over time, but would i be wrong in thinking that in 10 years, 15 years, theyll go up in value. This time iam thinking about a return on selling them. Just WAYYYYYY down the line. Iam picking the top 2 graders, and going for a high ms rating, anything else i should know before hand. Thanks yall

Hey I had every ASE minted except the 93 proof that only came in a set limited in number and priced at a point only a few collectors could afford.
The mint played games with mintages, never changed the product to be competitive with other bullion coins on the market.
If I were going to go down the 1 oz bouillon coin worm hole again it would be a product from Perth, Ottawa, or London....

FDOI means nothing! How many do you think were on that pallet with this one?

It's still just bullion! That's the way most collectors look at it. 10-15 years from now, what do you think the price of silver will be? ~ Chris

"Emergency Issue"??? Just another scam by big business and the US Mint to get amateur collectors to bite. Like others have said, it is just another ASE.

The ASE is a bullion coin, made specifically as a store of silver. The prices on these PCGS coins are all manufactured based on the label - really no difference between these and your typical 2020 ASE.

If you want a store of value in silver, just buy regular ASEs (or Maples, Britannias, Perth Mint Kangaroos/Koalas, etc.)

If you like walkers, you can build a very nice set of "real" ones.
You only need 7 proofs and lower grades are both inexpensive & beautiful.

Here are the 7 you need for an entire set.

Click on the green number and check them out.
The highest price ones are listed 1st (start at 1942 & work backwards)

Toning can go from zero to mind-blowing (if you're into that)

Smh.... "emergency issue". What a scam. It's not the first time philly or Denver has made bullion silver eagles. They've done it for no reason also just to help out. Not even sure if it's not the normal thing for them to do with periods of down time. The catch here is the coins don't have mint marks and the distributors if the open a monster box to sell the and don't check the tags it's just another box of bullion eagles. The tag on the box identifies it as "Philadelphia" made.

This is a marketing gimmick in my opinion. There's no way to tell one from the other or where it was made outside of the monster box or the slab.

If anything this sometimes can mean that philadelphia and Denver have down time and not striking so much for circulation right now. And if 2020 is a low mintage year for circulation strikes nice examples of pocket change will have a better value down the road.

I.e. why some of us putting together state park quarter sets are struggling with 2010-2012 circulation strikes usually. They don't appear that often. Or the 2009 nickel. Just hard to come by, and BU.. pretty difficult.

The only time a silver eagle will exceed melt value (~$16.50) is if you get a proof strike (~$60.00) from the mint. If you have a reverse proof strike ($600 for PR69) or a burnished finish (typically sell for a good premium), then it would warrant that $250 price.

I buy my silver eagles raw so I don't get screwed on buying MS70 or MS69 circulation strike coins for 4-12x more than melt.

Update: did some looking and found a buy it now for a PCGS MS70 2020 silver eagle for $40.

You could get 5 for the price you paid for one.

You couldn't mint your precious metal collectors' pieces at the building in the city of your first choice and had to do it elsewhere instead?

The horror. The humanity. What an absolute emergency.

No other civilization has had to overcome such an obstacle.
