I think Cointalk should have a separate category for Counterfeits and Altered Coins

Cool thread @paddyman98! I guess I missed it; might have helped if it had been in a category called "counterfeits":D...

I think there should be separate forums for POST MINT DAMAGE , NOBODY SEES IT BUT ME and DAMN STUPID QUESTIONS.

Then I’d finally have a home on this site.

And I second Paddy’s request for METAL DETECTING FINDS. 7C608AB2-9C39-4956-A804-8A450D75A98C.jpeg

Great idea! - which I am not so surprised to find met with immediate belittling and unreasonableness right out of the gate. Some of you really know how to set the bar - quite low, unfortunately - for the free exchange of opinion and thought.

We can't do this, because we also can't do this - and, we'll hi-jack your thread with a few other ideas, good and bad, that have nothing to do with the OP. I know there is a greater intellect and ability to reason on this board. Just because other categories may or may not be needed, doesn't mean the OP topic isn't worthy of discussion and consideration.

It's telling when one has to be directed to another site (e.g. goto @Jack D. Young facebook) for information and conversation which might otherwise be available and further developed here - not that referencing sources of information is a bad thing.

I think its a great idea! worthy of better discussion and consideration.

Hm. From here, it seems like it's that very "free exchange of opinion and thought" that's got you all worked up.

Threads aren't owned and controlled by the poster that started them. That might be an interesting experiment -- set up a forum where anyone starting a thread is automatically a moderator for that thread -- but I haven't seen a forum that does it that way, and I'm guessing there are good reasons.

Hmmmmm..... perhaps you were too busy being coy when you read my post. Very few actually commented on the substance of creating a thread for the free exchange of opinion of thought and opinion. They simply ran headstrong into the thread, like you do here, without offering anything of value.

And, yes. In any other thread, several of these same members would be commenting on the need to stick to the original topic, e.g. if you wanna post about all the other ideas for a separate category for other topics... post your own thread. Stick to the topic.

I don't have to be a moderator to opine on the absurdity of the reasoning being offered against the otherwise great idea offered for discussion by the OP. I did a search for a discussion of fake coins, and counterfeit coins, as someone else will do in the future, and it was quite limited and the only meaningful information and advice was to go somewhere else. In the future, someone else might do the same search, see the same discussion and advice, as well as your hapless contribution, and simply go somewhere else entirely.
