No problem, Larry! Did you notice that we have another "numismatically challenged" patron? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1970-d-kennedy-half-dollar-90-silver.355227/ This fool is even arguing with someone who agrees with him. ~ Chris
Am I the only one who remembers only one or two of these types of posts that actually did come back with authentication? I can understand hopefulness, but not at the loss of reason. People who subconsciously suspect a coin isn't what they thought it was are the ones that argue the longest as if our agreement would make it be so. If a member thinks everyone is wrong, just send it in and come back later and show us how wrong we humans are. IMO, Jim
I would say the only coins that come back, were ones that were at least plausible The 82 in this thread, struck over a 43 copper? Really what is the kid thinking? As far as the 70D it is at least a plausible scenario.
I swear it has something to do with the raging opiate and meth problem this country has. YouTube videos about easy money is right up a junkies alley. to be clear, that’s not what I’m saying is happening in this thread.
And......if it should be rejected, at least be a man and admit your mistake. So what! We can respect you for your honesty and move on. ~ Chris
Some people can be more mislead by someone trying to give bad news in a nice way without saying NO! , then by old grumpy knowledgeable members who will call it what is it happens to really be. At the end of my college classes , I often get emails as why they didn't get a certain grade, and I have to say "because the points weren't there" and I get another negative in Rate Your Professor, whereas the ethics prof gives all A's and is the highest rated at our institution. Life can suck, when we say no, but it isn't on an impulse and we are dissing the coin and not the owner..and that is OK by rules. Jim
I've seen the whispering to someone first hand at a coin show. There was an obviously intoxicated on some sort of drug guy in front of me at a booth swearing that what he had was a 1969 s ddo and the dealer kept telling him it wasn't, after about the third time you could see the look of uhg! On his face and he leaned over whispered to someone standing next to him and the guy pulled the the junkie off to the side and talked to him. Some people will swear they have something even when the truths right in front of them.
You hit the nail on the head. I have a few junkies that come in my work quite often always asking me if I have seen this rare coin or rare error. For example I had one tonight that had a common 1941 mercury dime that he swore had a queen on it and when I explained that the woman was Lady Liberty he got mad and said NO ITS THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND very loudly and it was a very valuable coin error so I slowly closed the door and said sure buddy.
